Harry Styles and Zoe Kravitzs Engagement Raises Eyebrows

When she stepped out in New York yesterday, the $1million diamond ring was impossible to ignore: a ten-carat oval-cut stone set in yellow gold glittered unmistakably on her wedding finger.

 is engaged, just eight months after she was first romantically linked to .

But while they appear every inch the perfect couple, can we be sure this whirlwind romance will last?

First, there’s the speed of it all. Eight months is by any measure, brisk. And it has led some to wonder whether this is truly a case of meeting ‘the one’, or if something else might be at play.

For years, Harry, 32, has admired Zoe’s rock-star father as a musical and stylistic icon. Styles’s evolution has often mirrored Kravitz’s boundary-pushing aesthetic.

The two men first struck up a friendship in 2014, after they were introduced backstage at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes.

Then, in 2021, Kravitz stepped forward to defend Harry after he was criticised for his flamboyant choice of a feather boa at the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Kravitz was quick to respond by posting a photo of himself wearing a boa on Instagram and tagging Harry. The caption read: ‘Real men wear boas.’

A few days later, Kravitz, 61, gushed: ‘We met years ago on the road and became friendly, [he’s a] really sweet guy, and he was evolving from his group to what he’s doing now, solo.

‘It’s nice to see him in the suits and the boas and all this stuff that I did back in the Nineties.’

Their mutual admiration laid the groundwork for good relations between Harry and Lenny as the former One Direction star’s romance with Zoe became more serious.

In September, Zoe, 37, formally introduced Harry to her father and the three of them were spotted enjoying lunch at Sant Ambroeus in New York’s West Village.

Kravitz married actress Lisa Bonet in 1987 and one year later she gave birth to Zoe. But they separated in 1991 and divorced two years later.

Ms Bonet is said to like Harry and attended a recent Saturday Night Live after-party with the young couple. Harry was also photographed dining with his future mother-in-law and Zoe in Italy last month.

But while the singer might have secured the approval of the Kravitz family, it seems Zoe is yet to achieve quite the same level of welcome.

For we can reveal that Anne Twist – Harry’s famously devoted mother, who boasts 2.5million Instagram followers in her own right – does not follow Zoe on the platform.

In an age where so many relationships are built and endorsed online, it’s a small detail that hasn’t gone unnoticed, particularly given that Ms Twist continues to follow Harry’s ex, actress Olivia Wilde, four years after their split.

Some fans have even questioned whether the match has the full backing of the Harry camp.

And it’s not the only aspect of the relationship prompting scrutiny.

Sources also suggest that the speed of the engagement may be less about ‘destiny’ and more about ‘alignment’ – which is to say they think it might be driven by the appeal of Zoe’s clean-living lifestyle.

Once known as a party boy who was regularly photographed stumbling out of nightclubs at 3am looking bleary-eyed, Harry has now given up booze, meat, smoking and going out altogether.

Harry was known for partying and collecting women, with his history of A-list exes including the late television presenter Caroline Flack, mega-star Taylor Swift and model Kendall Jenner.

But in recent years, Harry has abandoned many of the habits that once defined him and seems to have stepped back from the late-night social circuit.

Earlier this year at the BRIT Awards in Manchester – his home city – he declined the usual slew of after-parties, opting instead for a quiet evening at home.

Friends attribute the shift in his behaviour to his relationship with Zoe.

A steadying influence, she has spoken openly about her own experiences with therapy and sobriety and is said to have encouraged Harry to adopt a more ‘intentional’ lifestyle – one rooted in hot and cold plunge baths and meditation.

That philosophy is said to have resonated with Harry, who has now embraced a routine centred on discipline and wellbeing.

Zoe’s lifestyle has long reflected such priorities. Brought up as a vegan, she has previously spoken of preferring unprocessed food. Friends say that Zoe’s cardio-based fitness regime was an early point of connection between the pair.

Harry, too, has now adopted a routine of disciplined fitness and is in near constant training for marathons. He ran the Berlin Marathon last year in under three hours and came a creditable 6,010th out of 26,706 runners in the Tokyo Marathon earlier the same year.

It is a far cry from the image that once defined a star famous for refusing to settle down.

Take Harry’s relationship with actress Olivia Wilde, which lasted for around two years after they met in 2020 while filming Don’t Worry Darling, which she directed.

Harry was regularly seen at her Los Angeles home and even formed bonds with the two children Wilde shared with former fiancé and Ted Lasso actor Jason Sudeikis. The pair have a son named Otis, 11, and a daughter, Daisy, aged eight.

Harry and Olivia seemed serious. He was spotted on a boat trip in Italy with a tattoo that read ‘Olivia’ in cursive letters on his upper thigh.
