Harry Potter Stars Reunite at Football Match

Oliver Phelps, Gary Oldman and David Bradley's meet up marked the second Harry Potter of the week as they got together at the Aston Villa v Chelsea game.

The Harry Potter actors posed for a photo together at the match, days after Tom Felton supported his co-star Daniel Radcliffe at his new Broadway show.

The new snap was shared by George Weasley actor Oliver Phelps, which was taken inside one of the corporate boxes at Villa Park in on Wednesday.

Oscar winner Gary, who played Sirius Black in the franchise, stood between Oliver and David, who portrayed the grumpy caretaker, Mr Filch.

Referencing their meet up in the caption, Oliver, 40, wrote: 'Some friendly faces at the football tonight.'

It isn't clear whether their reunion was planned or whether they just bumped into each other at the match. 

Oliver is a known Aston Villa fan because his family and friends in Birmingham supported them growing up. Interestingly, his twin brother James supports Birmingham FC, so they back rival clubs.

Gary grew up supporting Millwall, his local South London club, while David is considered to be a fan of York City football club.

Tom Felton enjoyed a  reunion with ffe as he shared sweet snaps supporting him at his new Broadway show on Wednesday night.

Potter fans went wild for the snaps in the comments section, writing: 'I might need to start coming to some games if this is the crowd'; 'What a trio! Love to see you together!'; This is such an epic photo!';

'Oh wow! What a crazy photo'; 'Hey Ollie! That's amazing. Thank you for sharing excitement with us'; 'Three icons!'; 'George, Sirius and Filch!'.

Daniel, 36, is currently starring in Every Brilliant Thing on Broadway while Tom, 38, has also been working in theatre in The Cursed Child over in the US. 

Daniel, who played the titular character from 2001 to 2011, beamed as he hugged Tom who starred as Harry's nemesis Draco Malfoy in the movies.

Tom went to see Daniel's new play and posted snaps of them together afterwards as well as a throwback image of them in the films. 

The star penned in the caption: 'Broomsticks to Broadway @brilliantbway @cursedchildus.'

The pair have remained good friends despite their publicly contrasting views on Harry Potter creator 's controversial anti-trans crusade. 

The duo's views have very publicly contrasted ever since Daniel opposed and Tom supported JK Rowling, 60, in her vocal opposition to that gender identity is different from birth sex.

In 2020 Daniel joined a host of other Harry Potter stars in hitting out at the author's trans exclusionary views, while Tom has remained loyal to JK - insisting he is 'not affected or attuned' to the views of the creator.

JK has caused ructions around the world with her stance on Trans rights - which have led to her being branded a trans-exclusionary radical feminism (TERF). 

In 2020, Radcliffe released a statement through The Trevor Project, stating that transgender women are women and that any statement to the contrary 'erases the identity and dignity of transgender people'. 

Tom meanwhile has remained on JK's side and kept his stance on her views guarded - something which has led to his remaining in the franchise.

Their reunion comes after Daniel recently shared his reaction to seeing photos of the cast members starring in the reboot TV show over a decade after he rose to fame playing the titular wizard.

The new series will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

Daniel shared his reaction to seeing the photos of the newcomers taking the baton to play the beloved characters in the series, which is slated for an early 2027 release date.

Speaking on behalf of some of his former costars, such as Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, he spoke about their experience with childhood fame and wanting to protect the young stars.

'We have all said, you know, you just see pictures of these kids and you just want to grab them and hug them,' he told People. 'That's the impulse that I think that we, mainly, all have.'

He revealed that he has been in touch with Rupert and Emma, and the trio have shared their thoughts about the new adaptation series set to be released in seven seasons for each of Rowling's books in the series. 

He said he and his former costars have discussed 'how surreal [it is] to watch people starting off on that journey, all those years later.'

He starred in the first movie in the film series at just age 11, playing the same role for a decade, and wrapped the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 when he was 21.
