Big Bang Star Reveals Filming Misery Despite Fortune

The Big Bang Theory premiered in 2007 and became a huge success, scoring 10 awards.

And now, the star at the center of the series, , has revealed he was 'miserable' while filming it.

The 53-year-old actor recently appeared on All Out with Jon Dean, where he opened up about the personal struggles he faced as he thrived professionally while playing the character Sheldon Cooper.

'I look back now and realize that there were many ways, at some of the best moments of my life, I was miserable,' he told Dean. 'I was not happy. I was stressed.'

Parsons noted that he was sober for nine of the 12 years the show aired, and 'felt that there [were] so many plates I was supposed to be keeping in the air and that the success and the good things of life that were happening were only due to this overworking... discipline and whatever.'

He pondered, 'Maybe to a degree that was true. I don’t know. I can’t say because that’s how I was.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to Parsons's representatives for comment but has yet to hear back.

Looking back, the actor admitted he would do things differently if he had the chance.

'I wouldn't do that again and for any amount of money. It was stressful and miserable at times. I made myself miserable,' he reiterated.

These days, he said he's 'changing my relationship to' his association with the role of Sheldon, because he continues to be recognized for the career-defining character.

'It’s evolving, and it gets better all the time. What I feel is better, what I feel is healthier,' he explained. 'It’s not something that I think – probably anybody – but I was certainly not equipped to, looking back.'

Parsons described fame as a 'very odd psychological thing.'

The Golden Globe winner clarified: 'This is not a complaint. This is just me having the grace to myself to admit it and look at it cleanly, or as clearly as I can.

'It is a weird feeling to know people know you when you walk into a room, but you don’t know them.'

The Big Bang Theory came to an end in 2019 after 12 seasons, when Parsons decided to quit his starring role.
