Speaking to Daily Mail, Grayson admitted watching the episode back was 'deflating', revealing he felt shut out emotionally and romantically.

'It was hard to watch,' he said.

'Being in the moment was really difficult, but watching it back was just as difficult. It was just a bit deflating.'

The turning point came when he directly asked Julia whether she saw a future with him - and said her hesitation crushed him.

'The hardest thing about that was the fact I just couldn't get a straight answer,' he said.

'I simplified the question as best I could, broke it down as best I could, but I just really could not get a straight answer.

'That was the most deflating thing for me. If she can't be honest with me in that regard, then what chance do I have at this point?'

While viewers saw only snippets of their tension, Grayson claims cracks had been forming behind closed doors.

'Leading into that, I was really starting to feel that Julia was putting up walls to not let me in on an emotional or romantic basis,' he said.

The pair initially connected well, laughing and enjoying each other's company, but he says things shifted quickly.

'It kind of changed pretty quickly once the cameras settled down and we got to spend some time together,' he explained.

'It really was evident that she just didn't want to allow me in or had made up her mind pretty quickly.'

He referenced Julia's wedding vows, where she admitted to having a 'checklist' in past relationships.

'It just felt like that was creeping in during Intimacy Week,' he said.

Grayson insists he threw himself fully into the experiment, but felt that effort wasn't reciprocated.

'I went in with the mentality that I'm just going to immerse myself and surrender to the whole process,' he said.

'As uncomfortable as some of the tasks are, I really immersed myself in it and gave it all I've got.

'Whereas I feel like Julia really danced around the opportunities to get close. She tiptoed around the challenging parts of the experiment.

'For a relationship to grow, you need to immerse yourself in them. I just felt like I really wasn't met in that space.'

The biggest divide between the couple appears to be how they define intimacy.

'I think our definitions of intimacy are very different,' Grayson said.

'For me, intimacy is chemistry, it's romance, it's getting curious about what turns the other person on or what drives someone in that space.'

He described Julia's Fantasy Night card game as 'surface-level'.

'They were questions you could have asked me at a coffee in the morning,' he said.

'It became really evident to me that she didn't want to let me in, and that was maybe a lack of attraction.'

Despite this, Grayson insists he remains attracted to Julia and hopeful about their future

Despite this, Grayson insists he remains attracted to Julia and hopeful about their future.

'I'm absolutely really into Julia,' he said.

'I hope she can let me in and we can start to develop a really strong emotional connection.'

When asked about their chemistry off-camera, Grayson confirmed they had not progressed physically.

'Up until this point, there's been a real lack of intimacy,' he admitted.

'I'm quite a physical touch kind of person. My hands have got a mind of their own at times, but I just didn't feel the want or the desire from her.

'There is an attraction from my side, and I just wasn't feeling it from her side.'

While his marriage remains on shaky ground, Grayson had even harsher words for the upcoming dinner party, describing it as the 'worst of all bloody dinner parties'.

'There was some really, really poor behaviour,' he said.

'It's embarrassing. It's brutal. It's not even childish. It's almost degenerate.

'People need to sit down and have a seriously good hard look at themselves.'

When pressed on who he was referring to, Grayson didn't hold back.

'Brooke was the worst,' he claimed, adding that Bec and Gia were also involved in the chaos.

Despite the drama, he says he and Julia have largely stayed out of it.

'Julia and I don't really fit into that drama,' he said.

'That's one thing we're really good at - focusing our energy on our relationship and not buying into all the nonsense.'

Grayson also expressed disappointment that their relationship has barely featured on screen compared to the louder couples.

'We want our story to be shown,' he said.

'You put your life on hold to go on an experiment like this - your work, your relationships, everything.

'To not get our relationship depicted as much as others is a bit deflating.'

Still, he remains optimistic.

'I definitely haven't lost hope,' he said.

'I take the lessons on and try to move forward with the relationship and hope of building the connection.'

Whether that connection can bridge their intimacy divide remains to be seen - but for now, Grayson is making one thing clear: he wants certainty, not hesitation.
