The actor turned 65 and Amal, 48, treated him to a bash full of surprises – including having his friends show up in disguise.
'I just surprised him on his birthday, actually with a number of things that…' Amal began sharing with British Vogue at the in London on Monday.
'Yeah, she had friends of mine show up posing,' the Hollywood vet started before his wife chimed in, saying they were 'Posing as waiters.'
He joked, 'It’s a dangerous thing to surprise someone when they turn 65 because you could drop.
'You know, that could be the end of you, so you have to be very careful when you surprise people.'

Despite the risky surprise, the actor said, 'Yeah, well I’m still standing, barely.'
The couple are parents to fraternal twins Alexander and Ella, who turn nine next month.

He recently told CBS Mornings the pair never had a proper 'fight' because he doesn't feel the need to 'be right.'
He explained, 'Well, when you're younger, you want to be right about everything, you know. "Don't paint that color on the wall."
'And you know, Amal and I – everybody gets ticked off when I say it – but we've never had a fight. We never had an argument. And some of it is because I'm at this point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I don't care.

'You get to a point in life where you just go: "Why would that be a discussion or an argument?" We have a really amazing relationship because we're also so supportive of each other that it's like, "I don't care."'
He said that when he was younger, he 'would have found things to, you know, stick my chest out about that I can [now say]: "It doesn't matter, I don't care."'
Ever the supportive wife, Amal was by her husband's side as he was honored for his work in cinema at the 51st Chaplin Award Gala in late April.
