Modern Family star Eric Stonestreet revealed he has been residing in Kansas City – where he enjoys having ‘authentic, real moments’ with people there – versus the Hollywood crowd.
The actor, 53, said that living outside of Hollywood has made it clear to him the good and bad parts about it, he explained on the newest episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
Eric said: ‘What I realized it does is it highlights everything great about our business, the entertainment business.’
‘And it highlights all the douchebaggery of our business. It amplifies it,’ he continued.
Adding: ‘Because I’m here, I’m dealing with people from here, and I’m going into the store and having all these authentic, real moments, and then I go to Hollywood, and you’re reminded of some of the types of people that you deal with.’
Eric was born in Kansas City and grew up there, even going to Kansas State University as well – moving to LA to begin his acting career.

He mentioned the highlights as well as an actor: ‘But then you’re offered fruit on a big board. Would you like some lychee and kiwi, sir?” It’s like oh yeah, this is what’s great about Hollywood… so it’s really fun. It just amplifies it. It’s like leaving [Kansas City] and going back and doing something is almost more fun than it was living there, doing it.’
Eric became a household name a Cameron Rucker on Modern Family, alongside Ed O’Neill, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Ty Burrell.
He received two Emmy Awards for his performance in Modern Family.
He played the character for 11 seasons, until the show ended in 2020.

He also appeared in The Secret Life of Pets franchise, the films Bad Teacher, Confirmation, The Loft and the series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
He candid opinion on Hollywood comes just months after podcaster Taylor Strecker called Eric the ‘worst guest’ she’s ever had on her show the Taste of Taylor, via Page Six.
She revealed her thoughts on the June 25 Amazon Live she appeared on with Paige DeSorbo.
‘He’s from Modern Family and he’s like chubby, jolly, sweet, funny one. Could he be anything but? Nasty!’ Taylor said.
She said she thought he would talk about Modern Family but he had partnered with Pepto-Bismol and wanted to talk about his new partnership.
In the midst of their conversation, Eric tell her – according to her – “So when we are gonna talk about Pepto-Bismol?”‘

‘I said, “I have hemorrhoids. I’m the queen of diarrhea. I love Pepto-Bismol! We can talk about whatever you want. And he said to me – and I quote – “Somebody didn’t do their homework,”‘ she said.
She then joked to him: ‘You’re gonna come to my house and call my mommy and daddy? I don’t think so.’
Taylor said that she ‘snapped’ at Eric and then told him sorry: ‘I said, “I’m sorry. Am I getting paid by Pepto-Bismol? The answer is no. So that’s your job to figure out, not mine.’
