Dwight Yoakam Faces Flight Emergency After Mechanical Failure

Country legend Dwight Yoakam revealed a terrifying flight emergency he experienced which caused a major delay at a recent performance.

The 69-year-old singer — who is — shared a statement to his main Instagram page on Monday to offer an explanation as to why he arrived late to his concert last Thursday in Lubbock, .

The music artist began by sending an apology to fans before giving a detailed account of the incident. 

Yoakam penned that he had just learned that the 'circumstances surrounding my delayed arrival' was shared to the crowd through 'a vague PA announcement.' 

The winner wrote, 'What actually happened Thursday afternoon was that we had an emergency takeoff abort as the aircraft was about to lift off from the runway due to a mechanical failure warning in the cockpit.'

However, the performer shared that the outcome had been positive because of the 'exceptional professional skill' of the pilots. 

'And they were able to avoid anything more dangerous or catastrophic occurring.' 

But due to the issue with the plane not being able to be fixed at the time, Yoakam and those with him had to go on a different aircraft.
