The star, who was best known for appearing in the 2006 film How To Eat Fried Worms, died from acute fentanyl toxicity, according to TMZ.
The outlet stated that according to a summary report from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Garrett died at a sober living facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Garrett died on February 8 at age 33.
At the time, his mom, Carol Garrett, feared that he may have unintentionally overdosed in an attempt to self-medicate after he contracted the shingles. He had previously achieved three years of sobriety.

According to TMZ, Carol said her son visited an Oklahoma emergency room when he was experiencing excruciating pain.

The show also gave Garrett his big break on screen, as he was featured in a video made from the show that was released in 2004.
How To Eat Fried Worms was released in theaters two years later.
The children's movie received mixed reviews, but Garrett and the rest of the primary cast were honored with the award for Best Young Ensemble Cast at the 28th Young Artist Awards in 2007.
Despite early success, Garrett doesn't appear to have continued his career in acting, and he does not have any additional credits to his name.
