Dean Cain says he feels the culture in show business has significantly shifted away from ideals, which he says will look foolish in hindsight.

The 59-year-old actor on Friday chatted with Fox News about the contemporary state of the entertainment industry, saying multiple factors have led to a sea change he feels is warranted.

'Right now, I like the direction it's in, because I think we're coming out of the woke [era], if you will,' Cain said. 'And we'll look back at this time and go, that was stupid. I hope we do.'

Cain, who played Superman on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993-1997, said that Hollywood's values have 'changed in that it has become very woke in that sense,' and the results have 'hurt the box office.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Cain for further comment on the story. 

The actor, who has also been seen on shows such as , Clubhouse and Beverly Hills, 90210, reflected on how the traditional star system has changed.

'Well, Hollywood's kind of died,' Cain said. 'I mean, when I first started … there were three networks back then. My dad was a film director, so I knew everything about the business being around him.'

, who made headlines in , explained to the outlet why he departed California to live in Nevada, a decision he says has been for the better.

He said that his parents had moved to Nevada 'two and a half years before' and had been satisfied with the decision.

'They were loving it,' Cain said. 'They were having a great time, they weren't paying state income taxes, prices for everything were so much lower. I was like, man, this seems great.'

He said of Nevada, 'It's the entertainment capital of the world, there's sports, there are concerts, there is everything in the world here. I love it. And there's a film industry here as well.'

Cain said that he's met with Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo and thinks he has 'done a fantastic job here,' adding that he's been asked before to enter the political fray.

'I have been asked to run for Senate here,' he said. 'I've been asked for governor here. If I think I can make Nevada better, perhaps I'll do it. If I thought I could come in, do some good for this state of Nevada and for this country, I would do it and get out.

'If I feel like I can help people, I think that should be the metric for why people get into politics. Unfortunately, I think they get into politics for power, for money, and for prestige. I don't need any of those things.'
