Bijou Phillips was seen for the first time since undergoing a life-saving kidney transplant earlier this month, as she stepped out with her boyfriend in Malibu, on Sunday.

The 46-year-old actress, who announced her transplant joy on Tuesday, July 8, appeared to be recovering well as she had an alfresco drink with partner Jamie Mazur, 45, who she has been dating for two years.

Phillips wore a large sunhat, vest top and shorts as she chatted with Mazur, who is supermodel 's ex, during the beginning of her lengthy recovery process from the surgery.   

Per the Cleveland Clinic, kidney transplant patients spend an average of three days in the hospital before discharge.

The kidney transplant recovery time is about six weeks - with patients advised to rest at home, avoid lifting heavy objects for at least eight weeks or longer after surgery, avoid driving for at least six weeks and avoid contact sports.

Phillips revealed her good news on with a beaming photo from her hospital bed as she recuperated from surgery.

'I am beyond beyond grateful to everyone who rushed into help me, get checked to donate, you are all heroes!' she gushed in her caption.

Phillips had sought the public's help in finding a living donor earlier this year after a kidney transplant she received in 2017 was rejected. , she told her social media followers in February that 'time is of the essence.'

In 2017, Phillips’s then-husband Masterson publicly shared news of her kidney transplant, revealing on social media that she had received a life-saving donation and was beginning her recovery

In one of the posts, Phillips detailed her lifelong battle with kidney disease, writing: ‘I was born with underdeveloped kidneys and spent the first three months of life in the NICU on dialysis.

'In 2017, I received the incredible gift of a kidney from a dear friend.

'That transplant gave me 5 precious years to be a mother to my daughter – but I have had many complications since, including the BK virus which led to both a cellular and antibody rejection.

'I am currently under care of Dr Anjay Rastogi at UCLA and back on dialysis

'Please help me find a living donor so that I can have more time with my daughter, family, and friends. Time is of the essence.’
