Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie may be one of Hollywood's hottest rising actors, but the thespian was recently criticized as many believed he was doing a little too much acting.

The 26-year-old American actor - - was seen leaving his hotel in Paris on Monday night as he stopped to sign autographs for fans.

However, right before taking out his Sharpie the actor lit up a cigarette then jotted down several signatures for his adoring fans.

Storrie seemed to be in good spirits as he smiled and chatted it up with his fans, but did not take a single drag from his cigarette after his initial puff. 

Social media users clocked this behavior as they ridiculed the actor for being 'performative.' 

'the performative smoking is so embarrassing,' one user wrote in the comment section of a Popcrave post on X while another said: 'Did he have to light the cigarette before signing? Holy larp.'

Regardless, Storrie's career keeps reaching new highs as last month he made his Met Gala debut this year after becoming an overnight sensation in the queer hockey romance show

It has been quite the rise to fame as just a year ago, the actor was working as a waiter while auditioning for roles and is now one of the hottest names in the industry. 

The role that changed his life was HBO series Heated Rivalry in which he stars alongside Hudson Williams.

The gay ice hockey drama tells the story of rival players Ilya Rozanov, played by Storrie, and Shane Hollander, played by Williams, who find themselves pulled into a twisting romance off the ice.

It shot up the most-watched charts around the world following its release - with fans sent wild over the romantic action between the pair. 

Based upon Rachel Reid's Game Changer novels, the premise follows Shane and Ilya, rival professional hockey players who embark on a passionate, hidden romance - while having to keep up animosity on the ice.
