Comedian Amos Gill accused of verbally targeting elderly woman during Adelaide Fringe performance, leaving her shaken

Amos Gill has been accused of ‘targeting’ a woman in her 60s with a ‘tirade of abuse’ during a recent Adelaide Fringe show.

The comedian, 32, performed as one of the seven headline acts at the Best of Fringe: Early Show at the Belgian Beer Cafe over the weekend.

He has been accused of singling out a schoolteacher in her 60s during the set and making a series of jokes about ‘Baby Boomers’ directed towards her.

The woman, referred to as ‘Jane’, claimed she was ‘targeted’ by the stand-up comic in a seven-minute ‘tirade of abuse’, according to The Advertiser.

She told the publication: ‘I was just sitting there quietly, I was not in the front row – and then he just looked at me, probably because my hair is quite white.

‘He just looked straight at me and he said “You’ve triggered me … I’m in an angry mood and I’m going to be really angry”, and it just went on and on from there.

‘I can’t remember exactly what was said, but he said I apparently had a “Burnside haircut” and then launched into a seven minute tirade of abuse, it was relentless to the point where the audience became dead quiet.’

Her friend Rose, who attended the show with her, claimed that Amos said ‘you’re just a couple of feminists aren’t you’ when they did not laugh at his jokes.

Jane, who is domestic abuse survivor, claimed the alleged incident was ‘completely inappropriate’ and left her feeling shaken.

Amos told The Advertiser: ‘I strenuously deny my tirade lasted seven minutes. It was at most five.’
