The 28-year-old shared the worrying update with fans on Instagram on Tuesday, explaining he recently underwent vocal cord surgery before dislocating his knee.
'The universe is serving it to me this year,' Cody captioned a photo of himself on crutches.

The Gold Coast-born performer revealed he had spent almost three months trying to recover from a damaged vocal cord before doctors decided surgery was the best course of action.
'An update on where I've been: I've been on and off vocal rest for close to 3 months trying to heal a damaged vocal cord,' he wrote.
'We decided to operate to aid the recovery.'

Just as he was preparing to make his musical comeback, Cody suffered another setback when he dislocated his knee while filming his new music video.
Despite the painful injury, he still managed to finish the shoot before beginning his recovery.

Reflecting on the difficult period, the former competitive swimmer said he was trying to embrace the unexpected downtime.
'I'm taking time to reflect and understand this for what it is: forced rest,' he wrote.
'The album and live shows have to wait, but I've got some work to share while I'm down for the count.'
'You can't hold me down! I'll be back stronger.'

The latest setback comes after Cody first revealed in May that he had suffered a haemorrhage on one of his vocal cords while recording new music.
The injury forced him to cancel promotional appearances for his latest single and postpone work on his upcoming album while he focused on recovering his voice.
