delivered a hilarious speech during the opening of Sunday night's Actor Awards, but it was her brother Oliver's facial reactions that stole the spotlight.

The awards ceremony, which was previously known as the SAGs, traditionally opens with famous faces delivering monologues about their careers ending with the words 'I am an actor'.

Kate, who was nominated for Song Sung Blue, had the star-studded crowd at The Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in  laughing as she spoke about her rebellious childhood.

Recalling how she was 'boy crazy,' 'too loud' and 'got in trouble for daydreaming' and 'was sent home from school for inappropriate dress', Kate's actor brother Oliver proved how he felt about his little sister's teen years with some hilarious reactions.

Grimacing, nodding in agreement and shaking his head in mock disgust, Oliver broke out into a grin and applauded Kate as she delivered her punchline- 'It turns out these are all very marketable skills' as an actress.

Oliver wasn't even meant to be at the awards, stepping in to be his sister's last minute date.

The brother-sister duo explained to ET that Kate's partner Danny Fujikawa got 'crazy sick' leading her to call her brother and tell him 'you need to be my date.'

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kate, who is the daughter of Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn, spoke about her 'boy crazy' musings in her childhood diaries.

'I've been journaling since I was like eight,' Kate explained, before confessing she nearly backed out of bringing the notebooks altogether. 'I started looking through them and I'm like, "I can't read these. I can't read them."'

According to Kate , the journals were packed with early romantic musings - and a surprising amount of emotional intensity for someone so young.

'I was like a little girl writing Sabrina Carpenter songs,' she joked, adding that many of the entries focused on feelings and experiences she 'shouldn't know about.'

Host Jimmy Kimmel quickly zeroed in on a recurring theme in her writing, prompting Hudson to admit she's been 'boy crazy' for most of her life.

'Oh, I've been boy crazy literally since 1980,' she laughed, noting that even her most recent journal entries still revolve around romance.

Despite her nerves, Kate ultimately agreed to read aloud one of the songs she penned at age 12.

'The touch of a hand, the whimper of a kiss,' she read, before stopping herself to clarify, 'Hadn't kissed. I have no idea.'

As she continued, the actress appeared equal parts amused and mortified by the dramatic tone of the lyrics, which referenced lingering sensations, emotional hauntings and 'the faint, sweet smell of yesterday's last dance.'

Kimmel reacted with a stunned 'Wow,' while Kate laughed through the moment, marveling at how intense her inner world was at such a young age.
