The 47-year-old songstress appeared onstage Monday in her hometown of McComb, , where she was presented with a key to the city.
In a heartfelt speech, the Moesha star recalled how McComb had welcomed her 'with open arms' each summer after she moved to at the age of four.
However it was her lean frame that sent online commentators into flights of unsubstantiated conjecture about her condition.
'You just never know what ppl health battles are behind closed doors,' one fan wrote sympathetically. 'Let’s send her love and support.'

Brandy donated musical instruments to a school her mother attended and memorabilia to an upcoming music museum scheduled to open next year.
The items gifted to the museum include her first childhood doll, a signed copy of her first album on vinyl and props from Moesha, according to WLBT in Jackson.
During her visit to her birthplace, she also teased a potential new album, her first since she released her seasonal record Christmas with Brandy in 2023.
The Cinderella star explained that 'I gotta do something because I want to perform - so I better get to it,' in an interview with WAPT-TV.
Brandy's legacy has been under a particular spotlight this year, during which she published her memoir Phases and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
