Bec Regrets Not Defending Stella at Dinner Party

Married At First Sight star Bec Zacharia has admitted she regrets not standing up for bride Stella Mickunaite during Wednesday's explosive dinner party.

Stella, 32, was set upon by controversial bride Brook Crompton and fellow bride Gia Fleur in a series of vicious attacks that also stung Alissa Fay.

Bec found herself siding with Brook and Gia, particularly when they launched their attack on Alissa.

Speaking with Daily Mail, Bec admitted that she regrets her actions, saying that watching the dinner party back was 'confronting and upsetting'.

'I have such huge disappointment in myself, because I don't act this way,' she said.

'The fact that I was even sitting on that side of the table was atrocious.'

Bec continued: 'It's not acceptable to not stand up for these poor women who are getting absolutely throttled by bullies.

'And I became one for a night and it's not okay. I need to take a long hard look at myself.'

She said that she had been gunning for Alissa after she had been told by Gia and her husband Scott McCristal that Alissa had labelled her relationship 'fake'.

In spite of the alleged barb, Bec said that she wishes she had acted differently in the moment.

'Instead of standing up for Stella or pulling Alissa aside, instead I sat there and allowed this all to happen and it's not all right,' she said.

'I should have practiced what I preached so I'm just as guilty as the rest of them.'

In fact, Bec went one further, saying that anyone who did not speak up was also culpable.

'Whoever sat there quiet also owes Stella and Alissa an apology, all of us are just as bad for not shutting it down' she said.

Bec admitted that she had already apologised to Alissa and was quick to offer another to Stella.

'I apologised to Stella publicly for not standing up for her,' she said.

'I’ve apologised profusely multiple times to Alissa – she was at my birthday party on the weekend.

'I didn't attack Stella but I think she is owed an apology from me and everyone at the table for not coming to her defence.'

'This is not an edit,' Bec said.

'What happened is what happened. No producer can make you go in there and scream at people.

Bec added: 'But to say that, behind the scenes, the producers are making you do this is absolute bulls*** and I think she needs to be a big girl and take accountability.'

Bec also took aim at Gia's post-dinner party claims that series producers had engendered the clash and that she was the victim of a 'bad edit'

She also slammed suggestions by Gia that Stella had been 'flirty' with other husbands in the experiment.

'Stella has never flirted with any of our husbands ever and to create that narrative about someone is extremely damaging,' she said.

'It's categorically untrue and that narrative is entirely fabricated.'

Recognising that she may have earned the 'villain' tag, Bec pleaded with viewers to show her some 'grace'.

'I'm hated by everyone it seems,' she said.

'I've had more hate messages overnight than I think there are comments on Instagram. That's fine, I've got a thick skin.

'It's deserved but, at the same time, I'm a human being and we all make mistakes. I'm asking for a little bit of grace.'

It comes after Brook launched a series of vicious attacks, while Stella sat and endured the barrage of vitriol on Wednesday night.

'You need to have a clue and realise. I'm standing up for myself because I see someone like you: "I'm so deep, I'm so deep." I don't think you're deep, I just think you're f***ing dumb,' Brook spat.

'You're very abrasive. And what you've been all night is barking at other women,' Stella said.

Brook's number one fan Gia then chimed in with: 'Barking, babe. That's lovely. Why don't you go back in your kennel, babe.'

After being told she was a 'very rude b***h by Brook, Stella attempted to smooth things over before leaving the table.

Brook, however, chose the moment to continue her ad hominem attacks.

'Hey babe, while you're at it, get the stripper boots off. If you're going to buy stripper boots, buy 100 per cent lamb, don't buy fake leather,' Brook said.

Brook was clearly not interested in displaying maturity, telling fellow bride Alissa, 33, to 'shut up' and branding her an 'idiot' after Alissa told her to tone down the attack.

This emboldened Gia and Bec to seize the opportunity to gang up on Alissa.

'You wonder why everyone hates you, babe, that's why,' Gia said, to which Bec excitedly agreed.
