Barry Manilow Opens Up About Tough Doctor Visit

Barry Manilow took to Instagram on Friday to give his followers an update amid his health crisis.

The 82-year-old Copacabana singer, who recently postponed his Las Vegas residency, revealed in December that he had a cancerous spot on his left lung that would be surgically removed.

Following the procedure he expected to continue touring and performing for fans, but it turns out Manilow will not be hitting the road as soon as he had hoped.

Ahead of the weekend he said he had a 'very depressing visit' with his surgeon and would have to reschedule performances from February 27-March 17.

Despite 'using the treadmill three times a day,' the music artist said he still can't 'sing more than three songs in a row.'

He added in a three-part note that his doctor said his 'body isn't ready' to perform a 90-minute set.

'I'm so sorry,' he lamented about having to delay the shows for a second time.

The long time entertainer was initially supposed to hit the stage for US tour dates in January, visiting cities including Orlando, Tampa, Charleston, Greensboro and Columbus.

In Friday's post he relayed that his surgeon predicts he can 'likely do the Vegas shows at the very end of March and the second batch of Arena shows beginning in April.'

'In the meantime and once again, thank you for all your wonderful notes and phone calls of support,' Manilow wrote to his 127,000 followers.

He added that his body has 'been through hell' and needs 'time to heal.'

Journalist Leeza Gibbons wrote in the comments, 'This is the right move Barry! Everyone is supportive and willing to wait! You are loved!❤️'

Radio host Melissa Forman shared, 'Could u be ANY sweeter? This is why we all love you ❤️.'

Someone else added, 'Come back when you are ready, Barry. We’ll still be here for you! Take your time and get well soon. Big love from the UK ❤️.'

It mid January Manilow announced new tour dates and gave fans a positive update about his health.

He shared on social media at the time that he was 'feeling great' after having the cancerous spot on his lung removed.

'SURPRISE!!! Barry is feeling great…so great that he’s decided to add six additional concerts to his existing March schedule,' read a caption.

It was added, 'Barry will now visit Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington this March! The Fan Club Pre-Sale begins Tuesday, January 13th at 10AM PT.'

Along with the information was a poster with dates for March 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 listed.

In December Manilow explained that his doctor had suggested an MRI after he suffered from two separate bouts of bronchitis that lasted for weeks.

'Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure that everything was OK,' he wrote on Instagram last month.

He added that it was 'pure luck' that the spot was discovered early.
