Annette Bening has debunked the portrayal of her on the buzzy new series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
One of the standout scenes shows Bessette (Sarah Pidgeon) styling Bening (Megan Channell) while working for Calvin Klein (Alessandro Nivola).
She was getting Bening ready for the premiere of her 1991 gangster classic Bugsy, starring her alongside Warren Beatty, whom she married shortly thereafter.
Now however Bening, 67, has confirmed that the encounter as portrayed on the show never in fact took place in real life, via Good Morning America.
She noted that she nevertheless was 'flattered' by Channell's performance, and confirmed she did meet Bessette once while the latter worked for Calvin Klein.
Bening also pointed to a telltale flaw in the show's portrayal of her at that time - in reality, she was nine months pregnant with her and Beatty's son Stephen when she attended the premiere of Bugsy in December 1991.

'I had heard that this was happening and a number of people mentioned it to me so I watched the scene,' she recalled on Good Morning America.
'I felt very flattered by the actress. I thought she was wonderful. It didn't happen in real life. I met Carolyn Bessette once at Calvin Klein, but no, I didn't happen that way.'
