The broadcaster, 45, has been a regular host of BBC Look North since 2020, and had previously worked on CBBC, CITV and The Disney Channel.
Amy shared on Instagram she'd received a 'handwritten letter' from one viewer claiming she was trying to 'dress like a 17-year-old' with her on-screen looks.

In response, she posted a snap of herself in a floral printed mini dress while perched on Look North's famous red sofa.
In the caption, she wrote: 'I recently received a handwritten letter telling me that my dresses were far too short for my age and why was I dressing like a 17-year-old?
'This outfit is for Margaret, I hope she approves.'

Many of Amy's followers threw their support behind her, writing: 'Margaret is slightly jealous @amygarciaofficialuk you have an amazing figure … how very dare Margaret;'
'She sounds a very rude person Amy, take no notice and carry on being who you are;'
'What a rude and entitled thing to do! You always look fabulous Amy and your clothing choices are always spot on!'

Prior to joining BBC Look North, Amy had also fronted 60 Seconds on BBC Three and BBC South Today.
It comes after BBC News presenter Amroliwala was forced to issue an apology on Friday after a guest dropped the f-bomb live on air during a tribute section to the late David Hockney.
The British artist died on Thursday, aged 88, his publicist confirmed, as paid tribute to him as 'one of life's true originals'.

And the granddaughter of one of his muses Scarlett Clark appeared on BBC News on Friday night as she was asked what advice he gave her.

Amy shared a defiant snap of herself in a chic printed dress in response to the troll, and she was praised by her followers for her reaction
Forgetting where she was, Scarlett said: 'Well, I mean, I mean the same thing, really. I mean, he just said to enjoy and paint what you love, and, yeah, just f**k everyone.'
Immediately realising what she had done, she apologised: 'I'm so sorry'
Host Matthew was also quick to step in as he said: 'Sorry, apologies for that. Let's talk about another thing that you mentioned there, which was just his sense of humor.'
Apologising once again at the end of the segment he added: 'Apologies if you were offended by the language there in part of that interview from Scarlett Clark, but we'll have much more on the career of David Hockney a little later in the programme.'
