Alex Cooper is crediting Taylor Swift with shaping one of the most formative moments of her youth and, even, jokes the pop superstar sparked her ‘sexual awakening’
During Friday’s episode of Owen Thiele’s podcast In Your Dreams, the Call Her Daddy host, 31, couldn’t help but comment on a poster of Swift’s Fearless album hanging in the background of the studio.
‘I can’t stop staring and looking at the Fearless album behind your head,’ Cooper began. ‘Those songs changed my life. Like, Fearless was my era of girlhood where I was really starting to like boys…’
Before she could finish, Thiele, 29, cut her off to joke: ‘Before you liked girls?’
‘We’re getting there,’ Cooper replied with a laugh. ‘I just really found that I was such a loser and [Swift] was my connector of like, “He doesn’t love me.” But I almost romanticized guys hating me at one point, like I thought it was cool that they were turning me down because then I had Taylor to listen to.’
Thiele teased, ‘You were in love with Taylor. Taylor got you through it.’

Cooper agreed and didn’t shy away from how deep her admiration went.Â
‘Yeah, she was my sexual awakening for women,’ she confessed.
‘Sorry, Taylor, that’s weird,’ the star bashfully said.
Later in the conversation, Cooper reflected on her first romantic encounter with a girl, which she admitted happened for all the wrong reasons.Â
‘In high school I like made out with a girl just so that it was, like, we’re turning the boys on which is so “pick me” and so disgusting,’ she recalled.
As they kissed, however, she said she was ‘still looking at [the boys’] wieners’ to see if they were hard.
‘It was Halloween and I remember just my t**s were pushed up to my chin and I was like it’s go time,’ she added. ‘Honestly it was amazing.’
She also admitted that she ‘use to practice making out with my best friend, which was weird.’Â

Cooper, who is married to Matt Kaplan, went on to reflect on the pressure young women face to seek validation from men.Â
‘It’s so sad that, when you’re in high school, that’s all that matters, the male validation, gay or straight,’ she said. ‘And I was obsessed with these boys and I wanted them to think that it was hot and she wanted them to think it was hot.’
This isn’t the first time Cooper has publicly praised the global pop icon.Â
In a 2024 interview with People, she named Swift, alongside Rihanna, as one of her dream podcast guests.
‘Oh my God, I would say two people, either Ms. Taylor Swift or Rihanna. Period,’ she said at the time. ‘I feel like those two women have built such incredible empires and I respect both of them so much, and I would be honored to sit down with either of them.’
