Eminem Faces Heartbreak: Beloved DJ Dies at 53

's legendary hip hop DJ and radio personality Lord Sear has died at the age of 53.

The musical artist worked with the 8 Mile rapper in the early 2000s during his Anger Management Tour. Sear also collaborated with Eminem on his radio channel, Shade 45.

Eminem shared a tribute to the radio star. 

'Sear was one of the greatest people to be around, I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together,' Eminem wrote on X.

'Our time on @Shade45 together was always some of my favorite interviews. He made the world a better place and I’m gonna seriously miss that. Rest in peace Lil Trey aka @LordSear!!!'

TMZ reported on Thursday morning that a cause of death has yet to be determined.

'Sear was more than a voice on the radio - he was a force, a friend, and family to so many of us!' the Sirius XM Radio channel said in a statement posted on X on Wednesday.

Shade 45 announced that Sear will be honored on Friday where 'friends will come together during his slot to share memories.'

'Rest easy, Lord Sear. Your family, friends, and all of us on Shade 45 will never forget you,' the statement concluded.

Lord Sear's real name was Steve Watson and he was based in New York City.

's maternal grandmother Betty reportedly died at age 87 following a battle with breast .

Sources close to the family told TMZ that Betty passed due to complications with the disease at her home on Tuesday.  

The rapper, 53, was reportedly not present for her passing. 

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Eminem for comment. 

In a 2000 interview, Betty described being heartbroken over the road Eminem had gone down and even torched his music as 'vile' and 'disgusting.' 

'Neither his mother Debbie nor I can figure out what happened to this sweet, caring youngster. In just over 12 years he's gone from telling me "Grandma I love you," to "Go to hell." It just breaks my heart,' she told The Mirror newspaper.

'When I hear his vile disgusting lyrics I can’t believe this is my Marshall, the same boy who used to come and sit on my lap,' she said. 

The loss   

She passed following a battle with advanced lung cancer in December 2024, TMZ reported.
