Orville Peck Postpones Tour After Suicide Attempt

Orville Peck has opened up about the catalyst of his .

The 38-year-old country singer revealed that he attempted suicide prior to announcing he needed to halt the tour, citing mental health issues.

'I was a bad addict, a coping alcoholic,' he admitted in a new Rolling Stone interview. 'And I had this spiral moment, where I went back to my hotel and tried to take my life.'

Looking back on the harrowing moment, he reflected, 'It was a big turning point for me, with a lot of realizations to come. It was something that needed to happen.'

The South African-born musician described the time period, which also included a breakup and rehab stint, as 'one of the worst places' of his life.

It led to the creation of his upcoming album Mule, which is slated for release on September 18.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Peck for comment but has yet to hear back.

This week he announced the new music in an Instagram post, writing, 'Mule - my fourth studio album arrives 9/18/2026. 

'This record is a chronological account of the year I lost my way. You can pre-save it tonight at midnight EST, and listen to the first single, “Too Little, Too Late” on all platforms.'
