It emerged that the singer had been acting ‘erratically’ prior to the fall with police called to see to ‘an aggressive man who may have been under the effects of drugs and alcohol’.
A post-mortem examination has determined that he died from multiple injuries.
Lead investigator, Prosecutor Marcelo Roma, has called for histopathological, biochemical and toxicological studies to be carried out, to confirm whether the musician was drugged and intoxicated.
With those results expected to take between ten to 15 days, Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office is currently treating his death as ‘inconclusive’, it has emerged.
His father Geoff has travelled to the Argentine capital to confirm the body is his son’s and to arrange for its repatriation back to the UK once it is released by the authorities. His funeral is expected to take place in November.
It was announced on Sunday that two workers at the hotel where Liam fell to his death are being investigated for supplying the star with drugs in the days leading up to the tragedy.

‘A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.’
The pair initially crossed paths on the hit talent show in 2008, however it wasn’t until 2016 that their relationship began.

However a year later in July, Cheryl and Payne announced their split.
In a frank interview published in The Sunday Times Style magazine in 2018, shortly after their split, mother-of-one Cheryl was quoted as telling journalist Decca Aitkenhead how Payne ‘is the only man who has ever been faithful to her’.
The pop star said she had been disappointed by every important man in her life, including her father, brother and ex-husbands, leaving her with ‘zero’ interest in a new relationship.
Calling her son ‘the man of her dreams’, she said she would happily be single for ever. ‘I do seriously think I might be, I do,’ she told the publication.
