She became a screen icon in the 1970s and '80s after earning an Oscar nomination for starring in one of the most iconic films of 1969 with Natalie Wood and Elliott Gould.

But even before she entered the ranks of Hollywood royalty in her own right, this actress was famous for her brief marriage to one of the biggest movie stars of all time.

This blonde beauty – now 89 – kicked off her ascent to stardom as a beauty pageant queen, before doing her time in television in the late '50 and '60s. 

After becoming an in-demand leading lady, she scored roles with stars including Warren Beatty, and Burt Reynolds, among many more.

Even after her buzzy first marriage, she managed to pique the public's interest in a , culminating in a flirtatious talk show appearance for the ages.

The actress, who looked unrecognizable, was spotted out in Los Angeles on Tuesday as she caught up with a friend in photos obtained exclusively by the Daily Mail.

The still-svelte Cannon was dressed in a casual all-black ensemble while walking her two adorable dogs.

The actress and filmmaker still sported long blond hair, which was styled in curls that framed her dangling earrings decorated with peace symbols and her chunky black sunglasses

She added that she was seeing 'several special [people]...' at the moment, adding that she had multiple physical connections with partners that didn't come with the baggage of relationships and commitment. 

'I have friends with benefits, yes,' she admitted.

Cannon began , but it was her relationship with film superstar Cary Grant – who was 33 years her senior – that elevated her public image.

He asked to meet her after seeing her in Ron Ely's diving drama Malibu Run.

The two married in 1965 and had one daughter, Jennifer, before their divorce three years later.

It wasn't until after their split that Dyan became a major Hollywood star in her own right thanks to her Oscar-nominated role in the counter-culture hit Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice which follows two friendly couples who experiment with swinging. Wood, Robert Culp and Elliott Gould were the others in the ménage à quatre.

She also appeared opposite Sean Connery in The Anderson Tapes and in Otto Preminger's Such Good Friends – which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

She followed that up with two more Oscar nods – for the short film Number One and as the gold-digging Julia Farnsworth in Warren Beatty's Heaven Can Wait.

She also starred alongside Sean Connery in 1970 crime film The Anderson Tapes 

Besides Grant, Cannon was also married to businessman Stanley Fimberg, whom she divorced in 1991 after six years. Other notable past partners include chat show legend Johnny Carson, TV's original Tarzan, Ron Ely, comedian Mort Sahl, talent agent Ron Weisner and actors Armond Assante, Hy Chase and Michael Nouri

Though she has acted less frequently in recent years, Cannon turned to writing with her memoir Dear Cary: My Life With Cary Grant in 2011. The book was a bestseller and came after she had turned down lucrative offers to write a memoir about her marriage for decades
