One of the most prolific actresses of the 80s had fans doing a double take on Monday, as she appeared almost unrecognizable during a rare outing in .

The 77-year-old star, who cemented her status as a scream queen as Nurse Karen Bailey, looked sprightly and radiant while enjoying a shopping spree.

Dressed in a simple cropped top and black trousers, she looked just as stunning as she did on the red carpet during her earlier work, including NBC’s Return to Peyton Place as Alison MacKenzie Tate.

Longtime fans will also remember that the star had major roles in the pilots for Knight Rider and Magnum, P.I. - but she wasn’t asked back when both shows went to series, including the role as Tom Selleck’s girlfriend. 

Sci-fi enthusiasts will also her turn as Miss Dorothy Carlyle on Galactica 1980.

After scaling back her acting career in the mid-90s, Shoop turned her energy to other passions, notably writing.

In 1987 she married former Jesuit priest Terrance Sweeney, and together the pair penned the heartfelt memoir What God Hath Joined, recounting their love story and spiritual journey.
