Rock band Yes has been forced to postpone their UK tour until 78-year-old guitarist Steve Howe recovers from 'essential surgery'.

The group was due to embark on an 11-date European tour this month, starting in  on April 22nd.

Yes released a statement announcing the news: 'The upcoming YES 'Fragile' UK and EU Tour, due to commence on 22nd April, has had to be postponed as guitarist Steve Howe requires an essential operation that requires recovery time.

'This decision has been made to ensure that Steve can return to the stage in full health and deliver the performances that fans deserve.

'We are working hard to reschedule the UK and EU shows to a later date, with full details to be announced after . Please retain your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates.

'Tour dates currently being arranged for later in 2026 will proceed as planned.

The band formed in 1969, with many members coming and going over the years (Jon Anderson, Steve, Bill Bruford and Rick Wakeman pictured in 1989)

Their hits include Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Roundabout and Long Distance Runaround

Yes was founded by former frontman Jon Anderson and bassist Chris Squire in 1968 in London, alongside guitarist Peter Banks, keyboardist Tony Kaye and drummer Bill Bruford.

The famous progressive rock band went through numerous line-up changes featuring stars such as White and Rick Wakeman, exploring many musical styles.

Their hits include Owner Of A Lonely Heart, Roundabout and Long Distance Runaround.

Yes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, alongside Joan Baez, Electric Light Orchestra and Journey.

Steve is the only remaining member of his era, now joined by lead singer Jon Davison, drummer Jay Schellan, keyboard player Geoff Downes, and Billy Sherwood on bass.
