The actress, 54, who was there to promote her new memoir You With the Sad Eyes, praised her Anchorman co-star Ferrell and the film's director Adam McKay for giving up portions of their salaries to increase her pay after receiving a first offer that was 'offensive,' per People.
'When they came in with the initial offer, it was, you know, a little offensive,' recalled Applegate, who has been grappling with the effects of MS in recent years.
'And I said, "I can’t. I know my worth, and I can’t do that,"' said Applegate, whose book also revealed details of her .
Granted, Ferrell and McKay's salaries on the 2004 film Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy were significantly higher than Applegate's.
She added, 'They wanted me bad enough, and they said, "Well, we’re gonna chip in." Thank God they did because it was one of the best experiences of my entire life.'

Working on the 1970s-set comedy, which revolved around the chauvinistic world of a San Diego news team, proved to be 'such a lesson,' Applegate said.
'I had never done improv before. Learning from that group of dudes… that is the masterclass that people pay for. Steve Carell, like, taught it. Adam McKay developed an entire new way of doing it with his group.
'To get in there and have that happen was absolutely magic, and it’s been invaluable to me and my career,' she said.
