Paul Antoine has been busy trying to form a love connection with Carina Mirabile on Married At First Sight.
However, like his on-screen bride, the hit Channel Nine experiment was not the first time Paul has had a crack at finding romance on reality TV.
Some viewers may have had the feeling they had clapped eyes on the controversial groom before.
That’s because Paul featured on Channel 10’s disastrous dating series The Real Love Boat in 2022.

‘I just want you to speak a bit more French to me,’ she asks.
Mustering all of his charm, Paul then asks his potential mate: ‘Do you know how to say kiss in French?’
Admitting that she did not, Paul then jumped in with a swoon-worthy: ‘Un Bisou,’ which translates as ‘a kiss’.
He then added an extra layer of ‘rizz’ with the phrase: ‘Fais moi un bisou‘, or ‘give me a kiss’.
Paul’s romantic turn of the phrase did the trick for Courtney, with the pair leaning in a for a smooch.
‘And you kiss well, as well,’ Paul declared, to which his nautical ladylove replied: ‘I need to, like go back to my room please.’
Paul’s flirting was not lost on fans of the show, with many jumping in to gush over the reality star’s romantic side.
‘He’s so lovely,’ one fan gushed, while another jumped in with a similar: ‘If Courtney loses this guy she will never forgive herself.’

Paul’s bio for the show reveals that he was looking for a down-to-earth partner who is ‘beautiful on the inside and out.’
When asked in a Q&A what he could offer a potential partner Paul responded: ‘I offer stability, respect, sensitivity, and independence.’
When it came to his dream date, Paul revealed that he was into long chats and spontaneity.
‘The perfect date would be the date that makes me forget that I’m in one. Long chats about our lives past, present and future,’ he said.
‘I like it when things are spontaneous, and haven’t been planned ahead too much.’
Paul was also asked to list his red-flags that may cause a potential love match to ‘run the other way.’
‘None,’ he declared, before adding: ‘Joking. Maybe my ego?’
Despite his best efforts, Paul was eliminated from the short-lived reality show in its 13th episode.
The Real Love Boat was hosted by former Voice star Darren McMullen and ran for just one season in 2022.
It took place in the Mediterranean on the luxury passenger cruise ship The Regal Princess.
Despite the ambitious nature of the show, it failed to resonate with viewers.
After a steady ratings decline, the reality series wrapped with a measly 98,000 viewers.
According to TV Tonight, it was bested by World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys on SBS, which earned 117,000 viewers.
Fans were unkind from the get-go, taking to social media after the premiere to slam the ‘peak level douchebaggery’ evident on the show.
It was soon labelled ‘Bogan Titanic’ as things went from bad to worse, with viewers picking it apart.
‘More fake plastic people falling in love with themselves’, one said while another critic asked themselves: ‘Why am I watching this s**t?’

Paul has certainly made a name for himself in his second reality show tilt.
The groom came under fire for his ‘toxic’ and ‘unacceptable’ behaviour on MAFS last week after revealing he had punched a hole in the bedroom door following a heated argument with his bride Carina.
After being slammed by fans and fellow cast mates alike, it was revealed that the incident was being investigated by NSW Police.
At the subsequent commitment ceremony, experts John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Alessandra Rampolla condemned his actions as ‘unacceptable.’
They allowed him to continue in the experiment provided that he attends weekly therapy sessions as well as abstains from alcohol.
