Katy Perry’s Blue Origin space mission was mercilessly mocked by fast food chain Wendy’s – which led to her pop rival Kesha getting in on the piling on – however some felt like their social media barbs were in poor taste and even accused the corporation of wanting the pop star dead.
While numerous celebrities have criticized the star-studded, all-female space flight on Monday, Wendy’s made their stance on it public with an X (formally Twitter) post targeting Perry, 40.
The official page for the burger joint commented on a photo of the singer in her space suit, shared by Pop Crave, which had the caption ‘Katy Perry has returned from space.’
Wendy’s responded with a comment that read: ‘Can we send her back.’
Now sister influencers Claudia and Jackie Oshry have blasted the fast food giant on their podcast The Toast and even accused Wendy’s of wanting the Roar hitmaker to die in space.
In a clip that has circulated around the Internet Jackie could be heard saying: ‘Why would Wendy’s reply that? I know hat their whole shtick is being like snarky on Twitter.

Her co-host and sister Claudia goes on to say: ‘Is that what Wendy’s promotes? Killing of women who are out here achieving their dreams?’

The sisters were not the only ones who criticized Wendy’s blasting Katy as an X user wrote: ‘You know society is messed up when declining brands like Wendy’s bully Katy Perry for no real reason. it’s cruel and shameful. And then they wonder why some artists take their own lives.’
Others believed that the fast food giant had acted unprofessionally.
An X user wrote: ‘Lol damn. Wendy’s went savage. I’m no huge Katy Perry fan but it’s kinda unprofessional for a business to randomly be hating on someone.’
That was not the only post from Wendy’s on the matter as the corporate account went on to repost photos of Katy kissing the ground after landing back on Earth. ‘I kissed the ground and I liked it,’ they wrote, in reference to Katy’s song ‘I Kissed a Girl.’
Kesha, 38, piled onto the drama, posting a snap of herself enjoying a Wendy’s shake and smiling.

Many have been criticizing the historic 11-minute expedition, which briefly carried Perry, Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, former rocket scientist Aisha Bowe and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn into space.
After one account pointed out that Perry was only in space for 10 minutes, Wendy’s wrote back, ‘Don’t short change her it was 11 minutes.’
Another fan wrote, ‘Good one Wendy’ to which the account replied, ‘I’m a woman send me to space.’
After another fan made a pun at Perry’s song writing, ‘The taste of her cherry starship…’ Wendy’s wrote back, ‘When we said women in stem this isn’t what we meant.’
One fan wrote: ‘Ohhhhh I’m bout to buy some Wendy’s now.’
‘This is why you are superior to @Arbys,’ another added.
Meanwhile under Kesha’s tweet one fan wrote, ‘Girl ur so iconic.’
‘I’m with Kesha and Wendy’s on this,’ someone else added.
‘Ooo I love me a shady Kesha!’ another chimed in.
Kesha’s jab at Perry comes after the Dark Horse singer’s controversial reunion with Dr. Luke, who settled a defamation lawsuit with Kesha in 2023, after she claimed in a 2014 lawsuit that he had sexually and physically abused her.
Perry collaborated with music professional on her flop comeback album, 143. They previously worked together on hit singles such as 2008’s I Kissed a Girl, 2010’s California Gurls and 2013’s Roar.
Last September Katy addressed the controversy surrounding her working with the producer, and insisted that her lyrics all come from her own personal experiences and do not reflect the views of the producer.

Fans were amused by the barbs from Wendy’s and Kesha
Kesha, whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert, tweeted ‘lol’ in the wake of news Perry and Dr. Luke would be collaborating.
Kesha and Dr. Luke announced they had settled their long-running legal battle in June of 2023.
Kesha said in a statement at the conclusion of the proceedings, ‘Only God knows what happened that night’ while Dr. Luke said he was ‘absolutely certain that nothing happened’ and that he ‘never drugged or assaulted her.’
Perry performed on board a Blue Origin rocket as she launched into space alongside the five women in an unprecedented all-female space mission on Monday.
Perry sang Louis Armstrong’s ‘What A Wonderful World’ after taking off in Texas.
She also took a daisy flower with her to space and showed it to the camera when the crew was in space, in honor of her four-year-old daughter Daisy, whom she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
‘I have so much love for my daughter, Daisy,’ she said in a post-flight interview.
After their safe return, Perry led the celebration, getting down on the ground and kissing the Texas dirt. Several of her crewmates did the same.
Model Emily Ratajkowski was among the growing number of stars criticizing Blue Origin for the space flight.
She said she was ‘disgusted’ by the expedition.
‘That space mission this morning? That’s end time s**t. Like, this is beyond parody,’ Ratajkowski said in a TikTok video.

Blue Origin is owned by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 61, who is engaged to Sanchez, 55.
Ratajkowski continued, wondering about the purpose of the quick space journey. ‘Look at the state of the world and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space. For what? What was the marketing there?’
‘And then to try to make it like… I’m disgusted, literally I’m disgusted.’
Ratajkowski was not the only star taking jabs at the space mission. Olivia Wilde and Olivia Munn also shared their disapproval.
Having safely returned to Texas, Perry was photographed kissing the ground, a picture that quickly spread across social media.
Wilde shared the photo to her Instagram Stories, writing, ‘Billion dollars bought some good memes I guess.’

‘What are they doing? Like why? You know what I mean?’ she said. ‘I know that this is probably not the cool thing to say, but there are so many other things that are so important in the world right now.’
Munn then added, ‘What are you going to do up in space? What are you doing up there?’
The mother-of-two went on to compare the launch to a ride at Disneyland, before asking why those on the trip needed ‘to tell’ everyone about it, versus just going up, having a nice time and coming back down.
‘I know that this is probably obnoxious – but like, it’s so much money to go to space. You know, there’s a lot of people that can’t even afford eggs,’ she stressed.
Host, Jenna Bush Hager, then informed Olivia that the all-female crew will go to space ‘in glam’ which prompted the actress to give a confused reaction.
‘They are getting their hair done, their makeup done, even eyelash extensions,’ Hager continued.
Munn was left speechless once again and then questioned, ‘They said this out loud?’
The actress silently shook her head and Hager humorously added, ‘Yeah, and a lot of eyelash glue to nail that baby down. That’s what I can’t stop thinking about.’
Blue Origin Flight NS-31 marked the first launch with an all-female crew since Russian astronaut Valentina Tereshkova’s solo space flight in 1963.
After the crew touched down, a number of celebrities called out their voyage on social media.
Gayle and Sanchez did not hold back as they defended their choice to embark on Blue Origin’s first all-female flight.

Hours after their round-trip expedition, the duo answered questions about the backlash over their voyage, specifically what they thought about Munn calling the trip ‘gluttonous.’
King, 70, revealed to People that she feels that anyone ‘criticizing it doesn’t really understand what is happening here.’
‘We can all speak to the response we’re getting from young women from young girls about what this represents,’ the the journalist said, in defense of their trip to space.
Meanwhile, Sánchez, revealed the judgment gets her ‘really fired up.’
‘I would love to have them come to Blue Origin and see the thousands of employees that don’t just work here but they put their heart and soul into this vehicle,’ she said of their critics.
