Unveiling the Enigmatic Life of Sarah Snook: The Evolution of her Relationship with Husband Dave Lawson from Platonic to Romantic

Sarah Snook has opened up about her unconventional love story with her actor husband Dave Lawson.

The Emmy Award winner, 36, told Vogue Australia that their romance did not follow a traditional path, as they progressed from friends to lovers over several years.

‘We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic,’ she began.

However, things changed in 2021 when they were stuck in lockdown together in Melbourne and they both realised they had strong romantic feelings for one another.

‘At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne with one of my best mates and we fell in love.¬†We’d just never been single at the same time.’

The Adelaide-born star then said once she realised their love was forever she took the initiative and proposed to her Peter Rabbit star boyfriend, 45.

‘I proposed and we got married in 2021 in my backyard.¬†There’s a really lovely grace in that without the pandemic, we might not have ended up together so quickly.’

‘We fell in love, I proposed, got married and had a baby all in a short space of time.¬† It’s not too big a word to say “soulmate”,’ she revealed on The Graham Norton Show.

It comes after Sarah dedicated her Emmy Award win to her baby daughter on Monday night, after the 36-year-old Aussie actress and her husband Dave Lawson welcomed their first child into the world in May last year.

Picking up the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series accolade for her portrayal of Shiv Roy in Succession, she joked it had been an ‘easy’ job because of the pregnancy hormones surging through her body during filming.

Speaking on stage at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, she said: ‘Thank you everyone who voted and for loving the show as much as we did as a cast and a crew making it.¬†

‘We put our all into it and the bar was set so high, I think that’s what spurred us on. From every department, we gave it our best.

‘All the cast, who I just love so much and I’m going to miss.

‘To my family, my mum and my dad, I love you. Thank you for having a dress-up box when I was a kid – this is where it gets you.

‘The biggest thank you is to someone who won’t understand anything I say at the moment but I carried her with me in this last season and really it was her who carried me.

‘It’s very easy to act when you’re pregnant because you’ve got hormones raging. It was the proximity of her life growing inside me gave me the strength to do this.

‘I love you so much and it’s all for you from here on out.’

Sarah was nominated for the award alongside Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets), Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Bella Ramsey (The Last of Us) and Keri Russell (The Diplomat).

The flamed-haired beauty made sure all eyes were on her as she stepped on the red carpet earlier in the evening.
