Two Doors Down Returns After Christmas Revival

Much-loved comedy Two Doors Down is returning for another series, following a  special after the co-creator's death.

The Scottish sitcom originally aired as a one-off in 2013, although later broadcast five series and four Christmas specials from 2017 to 2023.

It follows Eric (Alex Norton) and Beth (Arabella Weir), who face frequent and uninvited visits from their neighbours - who often overstay the welcome.

A festive special dropped in December 2025, solely written by Gregor Sharp

Gregor said at the time: 'I think we all felt we wanted to make sure that Simon would have approved.'

'The togetherness that everyone’s shown has really helped us all just get through it and it’s made this quite a happy and joyous experience to be back together again.'

Months on, Gregor has revealed viewers can expect to see another series of the comedy.

He said: 'It was a lot of fun putting the band back together for the Christmas episode last year, so I’m really excited to be coming back with some new tunes, which we hope will turn out just as special.

'The cast are the most talented group of performers you could wish for, and I can’t wait to get started.'

A BBC statement reads: '‘With its trademark blend of sharp character comedy and domestic disaster, the new series, set and filmed in Glasgow, drops us right back into the wonderfully claustrophobic and painfully familiar world of Latimer Crescent.'

Jon Petrie, BBC Director of Comedy, said: 'Eight series in, and the team are still making a world that audiences properly love spending time in.

'That’s no mean feat, and it’s a huge credit to the talent, care and commitment behind the show. We’re really proud to bring it back for another series.' 

Returning cast members include Alex Norton and Arabella Weir as Eric and Beth Baird, as well as Jonathan Watson as Colin and Doon Mackichan as Cathy.

Rounding out the line-up are Elaine C Smith as Christine, Joy McAvoy as Michelle, Kieran Hodgson as Gordon, Graeme Stevely as Alan and Jamie Quinn as Ian.

One viewer wrote on X: 'Two Doors Down coming back for an eighth season, MAYBE THERE IS A GOD.'

Another added: 'Just seen we are getting another series of Two Doors Down! Yasss! A win for Scottish TV.'

A third commented: 'So good and hilarious! Well done BBC.'

While a fourth chimed in with: 'Praise the Lord!! A decent comedy back on our screens.'
