Tulisa Contostavlos has reflected on the harrowing moment she was sexually assaulted after getting her drink spiked by someone she believed was a friend.
The N-Dubz star, 36, opened up on her devastating ordeal in a candid interview on Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast, with the incident occurring when she was just 16 amid a night out with pals.
Tulisa bravely told Paul of the moment she begged her friend not to drug her after spotting something ‘fizzing’ in his drink, before going into the detail about the lead-up to her assault.
She told Paul: ‘I was out with a group of boys from my area who I’d known for years, was friends with, and I remember seeing one of them, they had something in their drink, and it was fizzing, and I instantly thought, “oh God”.’
‘They’re taking drugs. What are you putting in there? And I looked to him, and I was like, “please, please, please don’t put anything in my drink’.”
The Young hitmaker then recalled how she panicked at being drugged due to her ‘sensitive’ reaction she had to drugs, adding: ‘I was like, I’m super sensitive, because at the time I’d started having like, fits off the back of just weed.

‘So I was like, “I can’t take any drug. Like, please, please don’t put any drugs in my drink”. Like, and he was like, “no, no”.’
Tulisa went on to share how she blacked out ahead of being assaulted, but remembered seeing ‘flashes of light’ as she was driven away in a backseat of a car.
She said: ‘I remembered feeling like, what is going on? And then next thing, you know, I just remember flashes of being in a car and just seeing the lights, the street lights.”
‘So I must have been lying back, and I just remember open my eyes for a second, seeing street lights, street lights, street lights, and then, obviously, waking up in a room, and then, yeah, the rest is history.’
Tulisa went on to say that her attacker’s mother made her tea the next morning, little knowing that her son had sexually assaulted her.
The singer also confirmed that at the time she didn’t confirm the assault, with Paul then going on to ask if would report it had she had the chance to go back in time.
However, Tulisa admitted that she would most likely have got revenge and ‘attacked him’, and therefore ‘wouldn’t have been able to report him’.
She shared: ‘I think I probably would have attacked him, so I wouldn’t have been able to report it is the truth. Probably would have punished the crap out of him and not wanting to report it, because I would have got in trouble.’

The chat also saw Tulisa insist that she wouldn’t have done anything different and placed the blame solely on her attacker.
The I’m A Celebrity star told Paul: ‘To this day, I’m not someone when I feel hurt or backed in a corner, goes to self-blame. I blamed him through and through. Didn’t look at one bit of my action and think what could I have done differently? That is all him.’
It comes after Tulisa recently opened up about her traumatising past as she broke her silence following her I’m A Celebrity stint.
The singer raised eyebrows this month when she fled Australia before the show’s final, retreating from the public eye after becoming the third celeb to be voted out of the jungle.
Speaking to The Guardian about her decision to leave, she explained: ‘I came out, still followed by cameras, all t**s and teeth, and it wasn’t until I was on my own that I felt this introvert-overload. I was hyperventilating, crying. It was too much.’
She added that she wasn’t sure if the ‘fear’ came from being in the spotlight or whether she no longer wanted fame.
It’s understandable that Tulisa is wary of being in the public eye, having been involved in several scandals – including a drug sting by The Sun’s notorious Fake Sheikh.
Yet she revealed that it was the sex tape her ex Justin Edwards posted of her in 2012 that traumatised her the most. She later sued him for leaking the footage and settled in court.

Tulisa said of her trauma: ‘It’s had the most long-term effects. It has really affected my love life and my intimacy… I feel so much shame surrounding it that my relationship to sex doesn’t feel the same.’
During her time in the jungle, Tulisa opened up about her sex life, revealing she has been celibate for three years and coming out as demisexual.
Demisexuality is a sexual orientation where a person only experiences sexual attraction after forming a strong emotional connection with someone.
Explaining how she came to that realisation, Tulisa shared: ‘I’ve kind of always been that way. But me being that kind of person, and then having the experiences I’ve had, has put me so far back into my shell.
‘I only deal with people I already know. I’ve just recycled ex-boyfriends for the past 10 years. A new person coming in doesn’t have a chance.’
She added that if she doesn’t see someone as a ‘friend’ then ‘I wouldn’t want them as a lover. I just don’t get the tingles.’
Yet she revealed that she doesn’t think her celibacy will last forever as she has faith that the universe will provide her with the perfect person.
