Three Australians have scooped nominations at the 81st annual Golden Globe Awards.

The lineup was announced in Los Angeles on Monday, with Margot Robbie, Sarah Snook and Elizabeth Debicki each receiving nominations.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie dominated the nominations with nine nods for the blockbuster film, including best picture musical or comedy, as well as acting nominations for Robbie and Ryan Gosling and three of its original songs.

Robbie, who plays the titular role, is up for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.

Fellow Australian Sarah Snook has meanwhile been nominated for her role in Succession, in the category of Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

Snook portrayed Shiv Roy in the acclaimed series, which has also scooped a nomination for Best Television Series – Drama.

Succession was the top-nominated television program, with nine nods including for series stars.

Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki has also been nominated for best supporting actress in the drama category for her portrayal of Princess Diana in The Crown.

Meanwhile, the battle of ‘Barbenheimer’ will continue at the Golden Globes as Barbie and Oppenheimer go head-to-head with multiple awards respectively.

Barbie, which was also produced by Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment, grossed over $2 billion at the box office.

In a statement, Barbie director Gerwig said she ‘can’t wait to bring the Barbie party to the Globes.’

The Golden Globe Awards has long been one of the highest-profile awards season broadcasts, second only to the Oscars.

Scheduled for January 8, the ceremony will be transmitted live in Australia, exclusively on Stan.
