Today Extra presenters Sylvia Jeffreys and Richard Wilkins shocked viewers on Friday when they tasted a ‘disgusting’ food combo currently trending on TikTok.
Co-host David Campbell, 50, told his colleagues that a current food challenge was trending which sees people eating KitKat chocolate bars dipped in tomato sauce.
Campbell cheekily told his co-stars that as a vegan he would sit the challenge out and then presented them with KitKat bars to be dipped into the popular condiment.
‘Apparently the food combination works because of the saltiness of the sauce and the sweetness of the chocolate,’ Campbell said, adding it should be ‘illegal’.
Both Wilkins, 69, Jeffreys, 39, reluctantly agreed to taste the food – and were immediately repulsed by the results.

‘It’s terrible! I hate it. Tomato sauce belongs on a sausage. It’s a good day to be a vegan,’ a disgusted Sylvia pointedly told Campbell.
Meanwhile, Wilkins also was not a fan, and upon trying it said: ‘That’s ghastly. I’m eating the corner of the KitKat to wash it out.’
News reporter Davina Smith also decided to try it out and was left speechless by the taste, making a disgusted face at the camera.
The Today show shared a hilarious clip of the food trial to Instagram and fans quickly took to the comment section to share their thoughts.
