Timothee Chalamet has admitted that he had to apologize to girlfriend Kylie Jenner after she surprised him with a beautiful gift for his 30th birthday.
Chalamet, 30, shared the anecdote while in conversation with actor Matthew McConaughey at a Hollywood town hall for Variety and CNN.
The Marty Supreme star was discussing his love of McConaughey's hit sci-fi film Interstellar, admitting that he saw it 12 times in theatres, when McConaughey revealed that Jenner had organized a screening of the movie for Chalamet's birthday in December.
'This is true,' Chalamet said. 'And I was grumpy on the way there because I didn't know where she was taking me. "It's my birthday, why are we driving thirty minutes outside of L.A.?"
'I got to the theatre and it was Interstellar on Imax. I said, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I was so grumpy on the drive."
Chalamet's 'grumpy' reaction drew a mixed reception online, with some fans finding the story cute, while others were less impressed.

'A grown man saying he was grumpy because his girlfriend was taking him somewhere out of town as an obvious surprise [is a red flag],' commented one.
'A girlfriend who drives you 30 minutes on your birthday for a surprise IMAX showing of Interstellar? Protect that girlfriend at all costs!' wrote another.
'One of the greatest and thoughtful gifts I have seen in a while. Wow,' added a third.
Chalamet actually has a small supporting role in Interstellar as Casey Affleck's son.
He previously called the role 'my favorite project I’ve ever been in', despite having little screen time in the blockbuster.
Jenner has been supporting her boyfriend as he promotes Marty Supreme by accompanying him to various awards season shows, including the Golden Globes in January.
The actor picked up his first-ever Golden Globe trophy during the ceremony in Los Angeles, winning Best Male Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
He gave The Kardashians star a mention in his acceptance speech.

Chalamet admitted that he had to apologize to Jenner for being frustrated during the thirty-minute drive to the theatre
'My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up,' he told the audience.
'Always be grateful for what you have. It's allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here.
'I'd be lying if I didn't say those moments didn't make this moment that much sweeter. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much.'
Chalamet also triumphed at the Critics' Choice Awards last month, winning the Best Actor accolade for his role in Marty Supreme. Again, he gave Jenner a shoutout during his acceptance speech.
'Lastly, I'll just say, thank you to my partner of three years. Thank you for our foundation. I love you,' he gushed.
'I couldn't do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much.'
