London’s Royal Festival Hall was packed to the rafters with Hollywood stars on Sunday night as the BAFTAs came to town.

And whilst the spotlight was on the likes of Zoe Saldana and surprise winner Mikey Mickerson as they picked up their gongs, there were plenty of behind the scenes moments the cameras missed.

MailOnline had a prime seat for the star-studded ceremony, watching on as host David Tennant launched into his all-singing, all-dancing opening before Warwick Davies had everyone in tears with his acceptance speech.

As the A-list crowd filed into the vast Royal Festival Hall, after making their way along the endless, and freezing cold, red carpet which snaked its way outside the auditorium, they used the time before Tennant kicked off the ceremony for a spot of VIP mingling.

Demi Moore made a beeline for Kylie Jenner, well and truly putting rumours of a feud to rest. But whilst The Kardashians star politely chatted to fellow guests, she only had eyes for her date – Timothee Chalamet.

As has become her signature move during Timothee’s publicity parade for A Complete Unknown, Kylie skipped the red carpet, instead discreetly taking her seat by her boyfriend’s side inside the autitorium.

The couple were in a world of their own, never breaking touch as they sweetly held hands and kissed during the ceremony.

At the dinner, held immediately after the last award was dished out, the couple ensured they had some privacy, with their vast entourage placed around their table to stop any interruptions from fellow guests.

The security team were also spotted shutting down anyone trying to take photos of the A-list pair, with Kylie taking the opportunity to cover her glam strappy dress with a jacket as she relaxed away from the cameras.

Another surprise guest, who skipped the red carpet was BAFTA favourite Kate Winslet, who managed to slip into the ceremony unnoticed.

Shunning the posing, Kate seemed keen to get straight to the fun, with MailOnline spotting enthusiastically greeting Broadway and screen star Colman Domingo.

The night’s Best Actor winner Adrien Brody was also a popular guest inside, happily chatting to anyone and everyone by the lift with his proud partner Georgina Chapman by his side.

Adrien and other winners were forced to put off the fun after the ceremony though, as they waited around for their BAFTA gongs to be engraved.

There were some surprise names on the guestlist among the movie stars and nominees, with Love Island favourite Molly-Mae Hague spotted making her way down the red carpet.

It was a long day for the guests, who after an afternoon red carpet and a three hour ceremony finally got to sit down to a dinner at 8pm.

Treats on offer included Bafta-branded tubs of vegan caviars and roast chicken as part of a lavish three-course menu catered by head chef Matt Crow.

The pièce de résistance was the Bafta popcorn sundae – an edible white, orange and gold-coloured chocolate tub filled with strawberry mousse and topped with salted caramel popcorn.

And after the dinner came the parties.

One guest was forced to miss out on the wild celebrations, with Wicked star Cynthia Envrio telling MailOnline she was gutted to bow out early but had a flight to catch

The official after party took place next door to the ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Hall, whilst big names like Netflix and Vogue took over iconic venues across London including Tramp and The Twenty Two in Mayfair for their own bashes.
