Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino are navigating a ‘rough patch’ and desperately trying to work out if the best outcome is to stay together or call time on their relationship, an insider has claimed.
The Euphoria actress, 27, got engaged to the businessman and producer, 41, back in 2022, but the pair are now said to be living separately and have not been pictured together since January.
She has reportedly been staying at the Beverly Hills Hotel since mid-February when it was reported that they have postponed their May wedding.
‘Sydney and Jonathan are in a rough patch with their relationship, and they have decided to stay away from each other to reassess if it is more important to save their relationship or move on,’ the source said.
Sweeney’s burgeoning career is said to be a deciding factor, with the actress linked to multiple upcoming projects, including a return to Euphoria as Cassie Howard and a biopic about Christy Martin, in which she plays the most successful female boxer of the 1990s.
She also recently wrapped filming on The Housemaid with Brandon Skenlar and is gearing up to play Kim Novak in 1950s romance Scandalous! about the movie star’s romance with singer Sammy Davis Jr..

‘Her career is booming, and she is nurturing that,’ the insider said. ‘To settle down now might be the wrong thing to do. Sydney wants a family, wants to be married, but not as soon as she originally anticipated and not as soon as Jonathan wants. So, there is a disconnect between them both.
‘They don’t want to break up officially, but friends fear that is where they are heading.
‘He’s older than her and she is just getting into a big part of her life professionally. She has to figure out what is most important to her.’
Sweeney has previously described herself as a ‘workaholic’ telling Entertainment Tonight in 2023 that her career was impacting their wedding plans.
‘I am so busy working! I’m a workaholic and I love it, I love it,’ she said.
The White Lotus actress was first linked to Chicago-born Davino in 2018. Since then the pair have worked together, with Davino co-producing her film Anyone But You through her production company Fifty-Fifty Films.
The film saw them whipped up in wild speculation that she had an off-screen romance with her co-star Glen Powell, who later revealed they would ‘lean into it’ to promote the rom-com.

The pair were last pictured together in January, with Sweeney also sharing a picture of them kissing as she waved goodbye to 2024
Sweeney poked fun at the rumours and shot them down while hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2024, telling the audience that it was ‘obviously not true’ and that Davino is ‘the man of my dreams’.
‘The craziest rumour is that I was having an affair with my co-star Glen Powell. That’s obviously not true,’ she said.
‘Me and my fiancé produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot.
‘And I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?’
However, the camera then cut to Powell in the audience, prompting the actress to quickly exclaim: ‘That’s not my fiancé! He’s in my dressing room!’
Any hesitancy on Sweeney’s part to chance settling down when her career is on the up could be a hangover from her working class upbringing.
‘I saw my parents lose everything, and I am terrified of that,’ she told Glamour last year.
‘That fear will always be instilled in me. I’m a huge saver. I don’t just go and spend money.”

The actress has built up a healthy estimated net worth of $40 million from major acting gigs as well as lucrative deals with Miu Miu, Armani Beauty, and Guess.
Last year she shut down claims that Davino pays for everything and financially backs her projects.
‘I’m a very successful, independent woman who’s worked really hard,’ she told Glamour. ‘I’ve accomplished and bought everything myself, and I provide for myself and my family.’
She described herself and Davino as ‘teammates,’ adding: ‘I would love to set the record straight. You can be in a healthy relationship with someone and also be very successful without needing the man.’
She definitely didn’t look in need of a man earlier this week when she commanded attention on the front row at Mui Mui’s Paris Fashion Week show, wearing a micro mini skirt and a matching leather jacket.
