Suzanne Shaw and Sam Greenfields Secret Split Revealed

Suzanne Shaw announced she had secretly split from her fiancé Sam Greenfield after 12 years together in an emotional Instagram post on Friday.

The Hear'Say singer, 44, and that she has been dealing with the 'messy and unexpected' breakup over the last two months.

Suzanne and Sam got engaged in 2014 and welcomed their son Rafferty in 2015. She also shares son Corey, 21, with ex-boyfriend Darren Day. 

But while the shock announcement was a surprise to her fans, there were subtle signs that the former couple were on the rocks.

The last time the pair were pictured together publicly was four years ago at the press night of Sister Act: The Musical back in 2022. 

Suzanne hinted at a rocky patch this month as she shared a Valentine's Day tribute to herself.

She shared a cryptic post about 'choosing yourself and choosing to be free', failing any mention of her businessman fiancé. 

The caption read: 'Happy Valentines to me. I love you without any conditions. You are perfect just as you are…

In a post shared in January - when she split from Sam - Suzanne posted a quote about 'starting again'.

It read: 'You can start again and you'll always be okay. It's brave and better than being stuck in a life that's dimming your light.' 

She added: 'Don’t settle, even if it means life will be a little uncomfortable for a while. Something wonderful could be waiting for you.'

Overcome with emotion in her breakup post, Suzanne said she is glad she now has the tools to navigate a breakup sober, having quit alcohol six years ago.

She said: 'I've not been online for a little while because I've just been navigating some stuff in my life which is a breakup that I'm going through at the moment when I genuinely did not expect I'd be saying this out loud.

'It's been tough, it's been really tough and I wasn't actually even going to say anything online but I just thought like the nature of my account is all about mental health, my struggles with my mental health, quitting , changing my lifestyle, taking up running, all of the things that have just brought my stability.

'And now things have just taken a different road, taken a different path. It's been tricky but my goodness thank god I have got the tools to navigate this.

'And thank god it's been six years of not drinking, six years of really dedicating my life to my personal development.

'I've not been perfect through this and it's been a little bit messy but I've certainly been able to tap into therapy, I've been able to tap into meditation, a little bit of running, understanding that I need to eat well.

'And understanding that I need to just lean into this pain and heal and it is a new chapter of deep healing because for me, I am going into the era of having the greatest love affair with myself.

'It was important for me to share this, it was important for me to close one chapter to move into the next. 

'I've not known what to say since the start of January but here I am, nearly in March now ready to just go this journey of total true self healing and giving myself the highest quality of love that I should have done a long time ago.'

In her caption, Suzanne asked fans to 'respect' that she isn't going into details about her breakup.

Suzanne was previously engaged to Celebrity Big Brother star Darren, a regular on the celeb party scene and gained a reputation as a ladies man, with numerous engagements including to future Hollywood stars Isla Fisher and Anna Friel. 

Darren walked out on the singer and their seven-week old son Corey on Mother's Day in 2005, as she battled postnatal depression, reportedly uttering the phrase 'I don't do family.'

Speaking about it on Vanessa Feltz's Channel 5 show last year, Suzanne revealed that her ex 'pretty much went out to get a curry and didn’t come back' and said the fact she developed postnatal depression was 'no surprise'. 

Darren famously embarked on the romance with the singer while they were both engaged to other people. 

He later married Stephanie Dooley, who he eventually divorced in 2019, nine years after she took him back when he was caught philandering with ex Suzanne. 

Two years before her engagement to Sam, Suzanne was married to Heart FM presenter Jason King, 51.

She married the radio presenter in 2009 until their separation in 2012.
