Suki Waterhouse on Split from Bradley Cooper and Robert Pattinson

Suki Waterhouse has opened up about her split from Bradley Cooper in a rare interview as she described her split from the actor as ‘very isolating and disorientating’. 

The actress, 32, and her newborn daughter, three months, who she shares with Robert Pattinson, 38, are starring on the front cover of British Vogue this August. 

And the new mother spoke candidly with the publication about her split from Bradley back in 2015 after two years together. 

Their split appeared to coincide with the Hang Over star’s new relationship with Russian supermodel Irina Shayk. 

Suki explained: ‘I really will say that I’m pretty strong at this point, but when something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re actually not doing well, and you can’t explain yourself to the world, that’s very isolating and disorientating.’

The actress, 32, added that Robert, 38, isn’t jealous of any of her exes as she explained: ‘[Robert] has a lot of humour about that kind of stuff. He couldn’t really give a s**t. He’s like, “No one’s better than me, so whatever”‘

Admitting the effect it had on her, she added: ‘It probably has taken a decade to work myself out and actually be able to have this expansion in my life.

‘If you told her then this is where she would be now I wouldn’t have believed you.’

Prior to Bradley, Suki dated British musician Miles Kane from 2011 until 2013 before later dating Diego Luna from 2015 until 2017. 

While Suki and Robert mainly keep their relationship out of the spotlight, the couple were first linked back in 2018 and welcomed their first child together in March of this year. 

However, Suki confirmed that Robert isn’t jealous of any of her exes as he knows ‘no one is better than him’. 

The singer, who released her debut album I Can’t Let Go back in 2022, uses her previous heartbreak as a motif in many of her songs, but this doesn’t phase Robert. 

She explained that her ex Miles messaged her to say that her new song My Fun ‘is boss’ and the Twilight star just finds it funny. 

Suki added: ‘[Robert] has a lot of humour about that kind of stuff. He couldn’t really give a s**t. He’s like, “No one’s better than me, so whatever”.’

Speaking about how she looks back on her experiences and relationships she reflected how she realises: ‘I played a part in this; that was really unfair; this was really brutal – and you’re a lot more at peace with the whole story. 

‘Sometimes you’re going to get an unfair shot, but there’s usually some form of karmic retribution, which I’ve definitely found with certain people. 

‘You watch their narrative play out and you’re like, ‘Haha, now everyone else knows you’re s**t.’

Suki revealed her first encounter with Robert Pattison was ‘very, very intense’, when they met at a Hollywood games night.

The new mum shared that she and Robert bonded over their ‘slight uncomfortable-ness’ as the night was full of ‘big characters’ and ‘real heavy hitters’ 

She added: ‘It was very, very intense. There were lots of big characters, real heavy hitters. I think we both sort of have the same slight uncomfortable-ness and quickly started giggling at the absurdity of the whole thing.’

Suki previously described her split from Bradley as a ‘colossal heartbreak’ as she opened up about the turbulent chapter in her life in an interview with The Sunday Times Style magazine in February 2023. 

‘I was kind of depressed for a while,’ she confessed. ‘It stuck around for a long time. I think it was just the break-up and also just being in my twenties and in the f***ing trenches.’

The star also admitted to growing weary of relentless comparisons with her former boyfriend’s new partner.

‘You constantly read about how much more beautiful the new girlfriend is or whatever,’ she said. ‘That sounds silly, but when you’re actually the one that’s heartbroken, it’s pretty rough.’
