'I was half expecting, even though I've never done radio before, a gold microphone. No gold microphone?' Karl said.

'There is one in the building if you'd like it,' joked the show's anchor Toni Tenaglia.

'Can someone get me that [gold microphone]. Is that part of the legal thing?' Karl said, referencing Kyle's legal battle with ARN over the axing of The Kyle & Jackie O Show.

'That's going down like a lead balloon out there,' Eddie joked. 'We might start with an astrology segment.'

Karl and Eddie spent the first show discussing the World Cup with former Socceroo Robbie Slater and chatting with Australian NBA superstar Josh Giddey.

They also caught up with former footballer and Bluestone Lane founder Nick Stone and answered live listener questions.

The entertainment veterans wrapped the show with a live segment in front of an audience as they welcomed a performance by Mark Gable and The Choirboys.
