'First and foremost, we're truly sorry for this and for not communicating earlier.

'I know that doesn't change the frustration or disappointment so many of you are feeling,' the statement read.

'If you placed an order and haven't received it, we completely understand why you're upset.'

The statement suggested that customers who wished to do so could seek refunds through their financial institutions.

'Following the appointment of Receivers and Managers, control of the company, its operations and its assets transferred from us to the receivers. Decisions regarding outstanding orders and the administration of the business are now being managed through that process,' it read.

'If you paid by credit card, debit card or PayPal and have not received your order, you may also wish to contact your payment provider to ask about the options available to you, including any buyer protection or chargeback processes that may apply.'
