John Stamos recently looked back on how he had to turn to a pro to salvage his good looks after a botched nose job in the '80s. On The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff, Stamos, 62, shared how insecurity about his nose led him to get a rhinoplasty after he joined General Hospital in 1982

But when the results weren't what he had hoped for, Stamos said he relied on Michael Jackson's '80s plastic surgeon to give him the nose that he's best known for today; Jackson – who died in 2009 at 50 – is pictured in 1983

Stamos starred on General Hospital from 1982 to 1984, while Jackson's first rhinoplasties are believed to have taken place in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before he debuted a drastically slimmer nose in his 1983 Thriller video.

Despite the considerable change in his face over the decades, Jackson only ever admitted to having two rhinoplasties relatively early in his career, as well as a later surgery to create a cleft chin.

Stamos previously revealed in his 2023 memoir that he needed Jackson's plastic surgeon to fix his nose and give him the look he's known for today; seen with wife Caitlin McHugh, 40, on May 10 in LA

He wrote that he was bullied in school and called Big Nose Stamos after a golf club to his face broke his nose as a child; pictured in 1982, before his first nose job

'I'm not all that happy with it. My nose looks kind of pushed up like Peter Pan or something,' Stamos recalled thinking. So on his next General Hospital hiatus he had it repaired; seen post-rhinoplasty with Lori Loughlin in a publicity still for Full House (1993)

'Everyone who gets a nose job tries to find some excuse other than vanity, but let's call it what it was – vanity,' he wrote.

Unfortunately, the rhinoplasty didn't provide the kind of transformative relief and confidence that the actor had hoped for.

'I'm not all that happy with it. My nose looks kind of pushed up like Peter Pan or something,' Stamos recalled thinking. 'So on my next hiatus, I have it redone by Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon.'

He added: 'Who better to handle the delicate task of resculpting my nose than the man who created a whole new face for MJ?'

Stamos went on to joke: 'I haven't even been on the show for a year and I've already graduated from the youthful newbie to the double-nose-job guy.'
