While the world of showbusiness is full of glitz and glamour, being in the public eye also comes with its fair share of drama.

This has been proven this week after Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, 55, became embroiled in a spat with Taylor Swift, 34.

The music legend took a swipe at the pop queen, dubbing her sell-out tour the ‘errors’ tour while quipping that his band ‘actually play live’.

Grohl and Swift have previously been on good terms, with the former praising the latter’s decision to re-record her albums, reclaiming her back catalog.

Following the fallout, MailOnline looks back at some of the ugliest spats in showbiz – from girlband woes to diss tracks.

Cheryl and Lily Allen

One of the most notorious spats in the world of showbiz was between Cheryl and her former nemesis Lily Allen.

The pair first began to feud in 2006 when Lily name-dropped Cheryl on the B-side of her debut single, Smile.

Cheryl, now 40, did not respond well to the track and when asked about Lily by chef Gordon Ramsay on his show, The F Word, the singer called Lily a ‘chick with a d***k.

Lily, now 39, then reacted in force as she wrote a scathing open letter to Cheryl on her Myspace page.

She wrote: ‘Cheryl, if you’re reading this, I may not be as pretty as you but at least I write and SING my own songs without the aid of autotune.

‘I must say taking your clothes off, doing sexy dancing and marrying a rich footballer must be very gratifying, your mother must be so proud, stupid b****.’

Five years later, Lily reignited the feud when she referred to Cheryl’s 2003 conviction for assault on Twitter which promoted Cheryl to unfollow her.

Yet in 2018, Lily finally apologised to Cheryl, citing the reason behind their 12-year feud on her own sexual frustrations and jealousy over her success.

Reflecting on the rivalry in her book, My Thoughts Exactly, she wrote: ‘I was frustrated, I was struggling with my own issues around sexuality.

‘I’d never even had an orgasm, and then here were these gorgeous girls — my peers, colleagues so to speak, and co-workers — taking their clothes off with wild abandon and being loved and rewarded for it. I couldn’t take it.

‘Sorry Cheryl, I was angry because I hadn’t come yet, it was ridiculous. I b**ched at Cheryl because she insulted me after I provoked her.’

The Sheezus hitmaker added she ‘resented’ Cheryl for her success with Girls Aloud and regretted writing Cheryl’s mother ‘must be so proud, stupid b****’ for Cheryl ‘marrying a rich footballer’, commenting that it was ‘such a horrible thing to say’.

After burying the hatchet, the pair have been pictured together and Cheryl even went to support her former enemy at The Pillowman press night in June 2023.

Jesy Nelson and the rest of Little Mix

Groups breaking up and falling out is commonplace in the music industry – and the split usually comes after an ongoing feud.

Little Mix rocketed to fame in 2011 after the four solo singers, Jesy Nelson, 33, Perrie Edwards, 30, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, 32, and and Jade Thirlwall, 31, were put into a band on The X Factor.

They went on to make history as the first group to win the show, which was followed by a star-studded career, achieving global success.

However, things turned sour when Jesy unexpectedly quit the band in 2020, citing her mental health as the reason.

Since her departure she has not spoken to any of her former bandmates since, with Leanne previously admitting the remaining trio had therapy after to deal with the ‘painful’ and ‘traumatic experience’.

After Jesy’s 2020 departure, the three remaining members of Little Mix continued as a trio before going their separate ways in 2021.

Speaking on The Zach Sang Show in June 2024, Perrie discussed her new solo career after Little Mix disbanded, and the inspiration behind her upcoming album.

She revealed that one track was all about a former friend and while she didn’t explicitly name Jesy, she described them as someone who was a ‘big part of my life’.

She said: ‘There’s a friendship that I no longer have. I wrote a song about that. That song – I can’t even listen to it without crying.

‘It is about them and how we didn’t see eye-to-eye. It’s a really sad song. We don’t talk any more. They were a big part of my life so it’s sad how it all ended up.’

Drake and Kendrick Lamar

Canadian star Drake and American rapper Kendrick Lamar, arguably two of the world’s biggest hip-hop voices, have been embroiled in a furious and very public rivalry for years.

The Canadian, 37,  and the Compton native, 37, started out amicable, collaborating on Drake’s 2011 album Take Care, Kendrick’s 2012 track Poetic Justice, and A$AP Rocky’s 2013 track F***** Problems.

The rap rivals even happily toured together in 2012 during Drake’s $42.6M-grossing, 65-date Club Paradise Tour.

However, things quickly turned bitter and both of the rappers have gone on to release numerous of back-and-forth diss tracks about each other.

After making digs at each other in 2014 and 2015, the rivalry seemed to die down, until it was reignited in October 2023.

Drake and J. Cole released their song First Person Shooter referring to themselves and Kendrick as ‘the big three’: ‘Love when they argue the hardest MC / Is it K. Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me? / We the big three, like we started a league.’

Kendrick Lamar seemingly took issue with this, which he expressed in an uncredited verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s track Like That, which dropped in March 2024.

Since then, the spat has only gotten more ugly as more and more diss tracks are released, with each one getting more personal than the last.

At his Pop Out – Ken & Friends show on Juneteenth 2024, Lamar performed one of his diss tracks about Drake, Not Like Us, not once, not twice, but a whopping five times after being encouraged by the crowd.

Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

The spat with Dave Grohl is not the first time Taylor Swift has been swept up in drama.

The Anti Hero songstress has been locked in a seething rivalry with Kim Kardashian, 43, and Kanye West, 47, which began at the VMAs in 2009 when Kanye famously stormed the stage when Taylor won the prize for Best Female Video.

A furious Kanye took to the stage to declare that Beyoncé should have won the prize, telling Taylor: ‘Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you. I’mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.’

The moment was quickly slammed by furious viewers, as Taylor was then unable to finish her acceptance speech, though Beyoncé later invited her on-stage while she accepted the Video Of The Year prize.

The feud was reignited in 2016 when Kim released a recorded phone call claiming that Taylor gave consent for Kanye to pen vulgar lyrics about her.

Kanye shocked the internet when he released his song Famous, which featured the vulgar lyrics: ‘I feel like me and Taylor Swift might still have sex/Why? I made that b***h famous.’

The line, which alludes to when the 46-year-old rapper interrupted Taylor’s win at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, was supposedly passed on to the songstress for approval, but she denies ever giving it the OK.

Taylor said she had been contact about the song, but she was ‘never made aware of the actual lyric, “I made that b**** famous.”‘

In an effort to prove Kanye’s version, Kim shared an edited clip from the studio of him calling up Taylor and seemingly getting her approval.

However, the clip shows him conveying the idea, more than the specific lyrics, and when the complete call later leaked it made it clear that the use of ‘b****,’ which seemed to be a major issue for Taylor, was left out completely.

Things seemed to settle down in subsequent years, and Kim claimed in 2019 on Watch What Happens Live that the trio had ‘moved on’ from the dispute.

That wasn’t how the Blank Space singer saw it, though, and she later said in an interview with Elle that ‘It would be nice if we could get an apology from people who bully us.

‘But maybe all I’ll ever get is the satisfaction of knowing I could survive it, and thrive in spite of it,’ she added, via People.

Most of the pop icon’s Reputation, released in 2017, was aimed at her experience during the ordeal.

She went on to seemingly address the feud in more of her music, most recently her track Thank You Aimee on The Tortured Poets Department — stylised as ‘thanK you aIMee,’ spelling out Kim in capital letter — which fans took to refer to Kardashian.

In it, Taylor sings: ‘All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F**k you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’ / But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.’

Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall

Despite being the best of friends in the show, Sex And The City stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall seemingly do not get on as well in real life.

It was long reported that Sarah, now 59,  earned a much larger salary than her co-stars during her time in the show – which eventually led to it going off the air in 2004.

Kim, now 67,  is said to have tried to negotiate a higher salary – which was met with extreme anger as it was claimed the other stars ‘wouldn’t even sit with her at meal times.’

It was also flagged that in 2004, Kim didn’t sit with the other actresses at the Emmys – to which she said: ‘Are we the best of friends? No. We’re professional actresses. We have our own separate lives.’

On their friendship, Kim said to Piers Morgan: We’ve never been friends – we’ve been colleagues. And in some ways that’s a very healthy place to be, as you have a clear line between your professional life, and your personal, too’.

Kim’s public swipes at Sarah Jessica have been numerous, yet an unexpected reaction came in 2018 after the tragic death of her brother Chris.

‘Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

‘Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your “nice girl” persona,’ Cattrall said in a post.

Most people weren’t surprised when Kim wasn’t part of the spin-off show And Just Like That, with the actress revealing that she was never asked to be a part of it.

It was revealed in the first episode of And Just Like That that her character, Samantha Jones, is now living in London.

In 2022 Kim revealed she was never asked to be a part of the new Sex And The City reboot And Just Like That and was heartbroken over a plotline in a pitched third film which involved her character receiving unwanted ‘d*** pics’ from Miranda Hobbes’ 14-year-old son Brady and ultimately led to her turning down the project.

‘I was never asked to be part of the reboot. I made my feelings clear after the possible third movie, so I found out about it like everyone else did — on social media,’ the actress told Variety.

However, Kim shocked fans in May 2023 when she filmed a secret cameo in mid-March, which she did without interacting with any cast member – with the star paid a reported $1million for the 70 second cameo.
