Earlier this year, Laura Hazzouri's infamous OTT Maldives travel vlog was all anyone in the eastern suburbs could talk about.

The mega-wealthy socialite's ostentatious packing routine - zipping $800 YSL tote bags into dust covers and lining up thousands of dollars' worth of Cartier jewellery for her family holiday - sparked a bitter 'old money versus new money' debate.

Laura fired back without missing a beat: 'Greece has a very relaxed dress code.'

What began as a simple fashion critique quickly escalated into a full-blown theological debate, as the woman cited a Bible verse.

Referencing the Marian apparitions at Fatima, the commenter wrote: 'The sins that bring most souls to hell are the sins of the flesh... Certain fashions will be introduced which will offend Our Lord very much.'

Laura responded by quoting Scripture herself, replying: 'Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.'

The woman doubled down, sending a lengthy message on modesty and morality, insisting, 'Immodesty is a mortal sin and nothing will change that, no matter how good a person you are.'

Laura then clarified that she did not share the same beliefs as the commenter, writing: 'Firstly, I'm not Catholic, so we don't share the same theological framework.'

The critic, however, refused to back down and questioned why Laura's children had celebrated Catholic sacraments, asking: 'Was it just for show?'

She went on to claim that dressing immodestly was 'usually a mortal sin' and insisted she was simply trying to help someone she believed was 'in sin'.

Laura finally clarified the family's religious background, explaining: 'My husband is Maronite Catholic. We raise our children as Maronite Catholic. I am Christian.'

Back in May, Laura and her husband Charbel threw a lavish Holy Communion celebration for their eldest sons, splashing a reported six figures on the event.

The ostentatious display raised more than a few eyebrows among society watchers, with one well-connected source telling the Daily Mail: 'Everyone was talking about the ridiculous amount of money Laura spent on her son's Holy Communion.

'I mean, it was organised by a wedding planner and would have cost over $100,000. It doesn't look great in the cost of living crisis, regardless of how much cash you have to burn.'

Organised by celebrity wedding planner Diane Khoury, the event was held at Sydney's exclusive Olympus Dining and featured thousands of dollars' worth of white flowers, custom candles featuring the name of each child and bespoke stationery for each guest.

The centrepiece of the event featured statue-inspired cakes displayed on custom-engraved plinths.

Laura ensured all eyes were on her, sporting a white sculptural Maticevski top worth around $4,000 and pleated wide-leg trousers from the same brand, worth around $3,000.

Her husband and children also wore designer suits.
