Michael Byrne dies aged 82: Tributes pour in for Coronation Street and Indiana Jones actor after he passes away following an incredible career

and Indiana Jones actor Michael Byrne has died aged 82.

Fans paid tribute to the 'superb' actor after The Guardian released an  announcing his passing.

Michael died on June 20 surrounded by his former wife Carole. His cause of death is currently unknown. 

They had two daughters together, Tara and Bryony, and three grandchildren, Tom, Chloe and Jasmine. 

Michael enjoyed an impressive career, famously playing Gail Platt's long lost father Ted Page in the soap opera between 2008 and 2010.

He also starred in iconic Hollywood films such as movie Tomorrow Never Dies and Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.

His big blockbuster roles continued when he featured in the 2010 film And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 as Gellert Grindelwald.

Michael began his impressive 60-year career at the Central School Of Speech And Drama.

It was where he learnt the ropes and performed in major theatres across the country including the Royal Court, the Young Vic, West End, and the Royal Exchange in Manchester.

Fans paid tribute on X, writing: 'RIP to the charming Michael Byrne who played Corrie's (lovely, gay) Ted Page',

'The superb Michael Byrne has left us',
