Seth Rogan admitted he was nervous and overwhelmed while filming a sex scene with for their new movie The Invite.

The awkward, intimate situation took a hilarious turn when the 44-year-old actor kept thanking Cruz, 52, much to the surprise of the film’s director, , 42.

'What’s actually funny in the scene is we were encouraged to improvise,' Rogen explained Wednesday, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which was guest hosted by Ike Barinholtz.

'There’s a scene where me and her are having a romantically charged moment, and it seems like we might hook up with one another, and I just kept saying, "Thank you."'

He continued, 'And Olivia Wilde, the director, was just like, Why? What are you doing? Why do you keep saying "Thank you?" And I was like, "I don’t know. It’s just what’s coming out of my mouth."'

Rogan noted that he felt 'apologetic and thankful' and that it was merely an honest expression of his gratitude.

The Pineapple Express star – who has been married to Lauren Miller since 2011 – was also a little anxious about how Cruz's husband, Javier Bardem, would react. 

Bardem won an Oscar for his terrifying portrayal of a relentless hitman in 2007's No Country for Old Men.

'So, you’re very worried about that,' Rogen admitted, adding with a chuckle: 'I don’t think he views me as a legitimate threat in any way, shape or form.'

Rogan has starred with actress Rose Byrne in multiple projects including Bad Neighbors and the Apple+ series Platonic.
