Radio star Mick Molloy issued a surprising warning to Sam Pang on Thursday to reconsider hosting the upcoming Logies, telling him the gig may end his career.
Pang, 50, appeared on Triple M’s Mick and MG breakfast show and told the hosts he would be reprising the hosting gig next month, despite controversy last year due to his take-no-prisoners humour.
Sam told Mick, 58, he would be adopting the same approach at this year’s ceremony: ‘It’s rinse and repeat, I’m not going to lie, I think we just got away with it last year, so we’ll do it again.’
This prompted Molloy to warn ‘Can I just say I have got a really bad feeling about this. A “career-ender” is the phrase I would use.’
Sam thanked Mick for his advice and recalled a similar warning Molloy had given him last year.
‘You told me I had just gotten away with it, I wasn’t even coming on stage at the end. Everyone was asking “where’s Sam?”,’ he said.
The Melbourne-born star added he would still be going through with the gig, and thanked Molloy for the advice.
Last year, Pang was hailed as one of the best Logies hosts in ages following his debut at the awards on July 30.

His blistering gags during the Logies included such high profile targets as Channel Nine’s Karl Stefanovic and retired Sunrise host David Koch.
Channel Seven’s Logies telecast was a ratings blockbuster for the network, drawing in an impressive 877,000 viewers.
And fans have credited Sam for the show’s success, with many tuning in to the Logies for the first time just to see him host the show.

He was a big hit with viewers thanks to his fiery gags, in which he took aim at everything from gross reality TV to the scandalous private lives of celebrities.
Sam’s opening monologue included a dig at Married at First Sight, saying the controversial reality show is ‘a clear sign we’ll not make it a species’.
He also joked about commercial TV’s lack of diversity, saying: ‘I’m the first host in the history of the Logies to be half and half – half Channel Seven, half Channel Ten.’
The 2024 Logies will be hosted at The Star in Sydney on Sunday, 18 August.
