Sam Frost has revealed intimate details about her upcoming wedding while reflecting on a deeply painful period in her life that left her feeling like she had a 'hole in my heart'

'I was playing outside with [sons] Ted and Bobby the other day and I was like, "This is joy." It's great to have ambitions, but for anyone who's gone through hard times – grief or mental health struggles – it's small things that make you feel peaceful.'

After years in the spotlight - including a stint on Home and Away - Sam says her proudest role is now a personal one.

'I'm a stay-at-home mum, and while I do little bits and pieces I'm so privileged to be able to stay with the boys and have that time,' she said.

The shift has also meant financial adjustments, with Sam admitting she and her Australian Survivor star partner are no longer living as comfortably as when she was working full-time.

'We aren't in the financial position we were in when I was working; we've had to make choices and live smaller,' she said.

That mindset extends to their upcoming wedding, which the couple are planning to hold in their backyard next February.

'Having something extravagant seems silly,' she said.

'It's not about that; it's about making a commitment to each other. I don't want to spend crazy amounts on this one day.'

'I think back on who I was, and I was so desperate to be loved; so desperate to find it,' she said.

'All my 20s, and even my late teens, I've always wanted to find that love. I feel sad for myself that I felt I needed it so badly.'

Now, she says, that longing has finally been fulfilled - largely thanks to her family.
