The iconic rock group have been performing together for more than 60 years, and sources are now claiming they've put the finishing touches to their new record, two and a half years since their last album.

In a nod to their early days, The Stones have been teasing the music under their previous name The Cockroaches, with posters spotted featuring the name, with the band historically used for surprise, intimate gigs.

The album is reportedly set to be called Foreign Tongues, and will be preceded with a new song, titled Mr Charm, which is expected to be released on Saturday.

A source told The Sun: 'The Rolling Stones album has been in the can for some time now.

'A lot of it was written and recorded a while back but there has been a lot of fine-tuning to make it perfect.

'The guys are aware they aren't getting any younger so some people are seeing this as a final album — but who knows with the Stones? They will be making some appearances together to promote it but there's not going to be a tour yet.'

After joining forces with Andrew Watt for their 2023 album Hackney Diamonds, the Rolling Stones previously said they'd recorded 23 songs, and they kept 11 in the 'back pocket' for their follow-up album.

The album will also reportedly feature some of the final recordings of late drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021, aged 80.

Fans were previously treated to hints at the upcoming album after signing up to receive Whatsapp updates from The Cockroaches.

They then received a message that read: 'Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name,' which is a lyric from the 1968 Stones song Sympathy For The Devil.

Daily Mail has contacted representatives for The Rolling Stones for comment.

The Stones first hit the road in 1963, and in the early years their shows were a byword for sexual and narcotic excess. They've performed more than 2,000 concerts – and are widely considered one of the best live acts of all time.

Earlier this year, the veteran rockers were considering a four month stadium tour after turning down a similar run in 2025, including a 'proposed multi-million-pound visit to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium,' and several summer shows.

Travel concerns and logistical issues were cited as mitigating factors in their decision to step away from the stage this year, but founding band-member Richards is understood to be behind their latest series of withdrawals.

A source told The Sun: 'The Rolling Stones had all the big promoters throwing loads of ideas and dates at them for next summer.

'But when they properly sat down to discuss the tour, Keith said he didn’t think he could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months.'

The proposed shows would have been their first live performances since 2024, when they travelled the United States with their lucrative Hackney Diamonds tour.

Launched following the release of their Hackney Diamonds album the previous year, the tour included 20 concerts across North America, sold 880,000 tickets and earned the band a reported $235million.

It's understood that the Hackney Diamonds Tour eclipsed Taylor Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour in single-night revenue by pulling in a staggering £10,345,659 per night.
