Riley Green Disses Ex Twice at Florida Festival

Riley Green took the opportunity to slight an ex-girlfriend twice onstage in front of thousands of people at 's Tortuga Music Festival over the weekend.  

'Well, I hate to do this to y'all but I've got to bring the mood down a little bit,' the country superstar, who was headlining Saturday evening, began.

'I've got to play y'all a song about my ex-girlfriend. She left, but she picked a damn good day to do it,' he added before singing his track Damn Good Day to Leave.

A few minutes later, Green, 37, quipped that he had to bring the 'mood down' again and introduced another song about the mysterious ex who still grinds his gears.

'This one's about all them times when she was chewing me out and I was thinking about all of the places I'd rather be at, so this song is called Rather Be,' he said.

The country crooner did not disclose throughout the concert who exactly he was speaking about, but it's been widely reported that he was in a tumultuous relationship with music executive Sophia Sansone a few years ago.

The former couple reportedly dated for three years and made their red carpet debut at the 2022 CMT Music Awards, but then had a nasty split.

Sansone, 31, has been spotted leaving negative comments about Green via social media, implying that their relationship was very rocky and tumultuous. One comment read: 'I wouldn't call my ex a winner in any sense of the word.'

She also appeared on Probably a Podcast last December, and said, 'Slowly, it turned very bad. It was a mess that I was in that  ... when I look back on it, I was really trying to hold on to those very far and few between good moments. 

'The reality of it is that I was in a relationship with somebody that I don’t even know who he was. It wasn’t who I thought he was at first.'

The Daily Mail has reached out to Sansone for further comment.

Since that relationship ended, Green has found himself in another messy situation,  with his duet partner Ella Langley and breakout star Megan Moroney.

Green and Langley - who collaborated on the hit You Look Like You Love Me and Don't Mind If I Do - sparked dating rumors due in part to their onstage chemistry and a viral video in which they appeared to share a kiss.

However, Langley, 26, told the Taste of Country in response, 'We're not dating. We're just good friends. Riley was probably the first famous person I ever met. He was playing all the same bars I went to and I played the same bars as him.'

Meanwhile, Green was spotted vacationing in St. Barts as the same time as Moroney, who previously told Rolling Stone on the matter, 'Just because we’re hanging out doesn’t mean we’re romantically dating. You know what I mean?'

Green has publicly maintained that he is currently single.

Langley was not at the Tortuga Music Festival but Green still performed their chart-topping song, as the audience sang along to all of the words.

However, he lost some of the crowd's praise at one point when he brought up the fact that his grandfather loves Alabama football - while in the Sunshine State.

'This next song is about my [grandfather] ... he was a big fan of three things in this world: He loved Alabama football ... ,' he said in a clip the Daily Mail obtained.

As a roar of loud boos took over the Fort Lauderdale beach, an audience member was overheard saying: 'What'd he say? Alabama? Oh. He's in Florida, so. That kind of gave it a little sour taste ... didn't like that.' 

Green then seemingly tried to win back the crowd by saying, 'The truth is you don't have to be an Alabama fan to like this song, you have to simply not be a Tennessee fan, which is real easy to do.' 

He then said he was going to try and 'figure out' which team the Florida audience likes and shouted out a bunch that was again met with a mix of boos and cheers.

An audience member joked, 'He's like, "What the f**k do you guys like?"'

Earlier in the day, talented acts like The Fray, Tyler Hubbard, Colbie Caillat entertained audiences across three different stages. Other headlining acts for the three-day festival - sponsored in part by Bacardi Rum - were Post Malone and Kenny Chesney, as well as memorable performances by Ice Cube, Dustin Lynch and more.
